Every girl deserves to play, train, and grow in a safe environment.

Safe Sport means creating spaces where girls feel confident, respected, and free to enjoy the game. It’s about building trust, encouraging open communication, and ensuring that everyone, coaches, teammates, and communities takes responsibility for their safety and wellbeing.

Together, we can make sport a place where every girl can learn, grow, and reach her full potential, free from fear, harassment, or abuse.

Coach Ilerika Usman led an interactive session on “Keeping Children Safe: Tackling Bullying in Sport, at Home, and Online.” He helped the children understand what bullying is, how to identify it in different forms, and how to respond safely and responsibly.

The session covered the four main types of bullying: physical (hitting, pushing), verbal (name-calling, teasing), emotional (exclusion, intimidation), and online (cyberbullying, social media harassment). Coach Ilerika explained the impact bullying can have on a child’s confidence, mental health, and relationships, making it clear why it’s important to act early.

Coach Ilerika highlighted that even small actions can make a big difference, building safer communities and stronger friendships. He reminded the children that staying safe involves making responsible choices, respecting others, being kind, and using the internet wisely.

The sports session was led by Coach Jeffrey Edung, who guided the children through a lively session focused on fitness, teamwork, and discipline. The day began with warm-up exercises, including stretching, jogging, and light drills to prepare everyone for the activities ahead.

The children then took part in fun and interactive games, such as football matches, ball-passing challenges, skipping exercises, and relay races. Each activity was designed to promote physical fitness while also teaching communication, respect, perseverance, and collaboration.

Coach Jeffrey emphasized teamwork by organizing the children into small groups, ensuring everyone actively participated and supported their peers. Through these activities, the children improved their coordination, focus, endurance, and trust in one another.
