Today we're featuring "Inert Gases in the Control of Museum Insect Pests" https://gty.art/2ZPN4T2
A serious problem facing museum professionals is the protection of collections from damage due to insects. This book describes successful insect eradication procedures developed at the GCI and elsewhere, whereby objects are held in an atmosphere of either nitrogen or argon containing less than 1000 ppm of oxygen—a process known as anoxia or oxygen deprivation—or in an atmosphere of more than 60 percent carbon dioxide.
Topics covered include the biological mechanisms by which nontoxic gases kill insects; methods and materials needed to create and maintain an anoxic atmosphere; and procedures for treating objects.

Today, Re-Org Nigeria joins the global community to celebrate the International Day for Monuments and Sites 🏛️🌍
Our monuments and heritage sites tell the story of who we are. They hold our history, culture, and identity. Let's protect them, celebrate them, and pass them on to the next generation.
Preserving heritage is preserving our future.

🕊 IDMS and Heritage in Crisis: Action, Hope and Solidarity 🕊
"In a world shaken by conflict, the mission of ICOMOS reminds us of a simple truth: every monument, every historic site, every cultural landscape we protect carries the story of humanity’s shared journey. When these places are threatened, it is not only stones that fall — it is justice, dignity, identity, and understanding.
Today, as conflicts fracture communities across the globe, the work of ICOMOS becomes more urgent.
Safeguarding heritage is safeguarding peace. It is a commitment to dignity, to diversity, and to the belief that cultures can coexist without fear.
Let us continue to raise our voices for the protection of cultural heritage everywhere, especially where it is most at risk.
Let us choose cooperation over division, preservation over destruction, and humanity over hostility.
By protecting the past, we help shape a more peaceful future.
And in that mission, ICOMOS stands as a beacon of hope."
Teresa Patrício,
ICOMOS President
