Ekiti FA to Hold Inagural Women's Football Symposium

The Ekiti State Football Association has resolved to organize a symposium for Ekiti Women in Football with members cutting across all the 16 local governments of the state.

The event which will hold later this year will be the first of its kind since the creation of the state in 1996.

This was part of the resolutions made at the recently concluded meeting of the association Board members where other decisions as regards crucial matters concerning Ekiti Football Ecosystem were made.

It was agreed upon that the two finalists of the Federation Cup State Preliminaries to be played at the Federal Polytechnic Ado, shall represent the state at the national level while the State FA Cup for Champions that kicks off later in month will hold to decide the champions of the Ekiti Football Ecosystem.

While appreciating the sponsor of the State League - Bet9ja, the Board maintained that the final of the State League will hold on May 20th while the State FA Cup Final will be held on the 26th of May, 2023 if approved by the Congress.

The Board however urged all football stakeholders in the state to eschew all form of violence by adhering strictly to the rules and regulations guiding the game in order to put Ekiti Football on the right pedestal.

The Ekiti State Football Association has supervised a successful poll into various positions in the Local Football Councils across the state on Tuesday.

According to the directive from the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) all Local Football Councils and other affiliate associations must conduct their elections before the end of April, 2023.

All the 16 Local Football Councils across Ekiti State held their election on Tuesday, 7th Marxh, 2023, where some members returned unopposed while there were new entrants into the Boards of different LFCs.

Meanwhile, more women have been elected into the Board of the Local Football Councils across the state which proves women involvement in the round leather game has increased tremendously.

Recall that this is the first time in the history of the state that there will be election into the Board of different Local Football Councils.

Impact of Dr. Emeruwa 's teachings, Ekiti FA recruits members of players union , supporters club as stadium stewards

Members of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria and Nigeria Football Supporters Club in Ekiti will henceforth be engaged as stadium stewards at competitions organized by the Ekiti State Football Association.

This development is to constantly engage these critical stakeholders of the game and allow them contribute to the developmental strides made in the organization of football in Ekiti.

Ekiti FA had last year assisted in fortifying the two groups in all the 16 Local Football Councils before training their representatives on ‘Stewarding Introductory subjects facilitated by erudite scholar and FIFA/CAF Security expert, Dr. Christian Emeruwa last month.

The Bet9ja Ekiti Football League, kicking off on Thursday March 9th, at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti is the first tournament where they will strut their stuff.

Ekiti FA lifts suspension on erring members, picks March 20th for EGA

Ekiti State Football Association has lifted the suspension placed on some of its members.

The seven individuals who are members of various Ekiti FA components were suspended indefinitely last December during the 2022 Annual General Assembly over allegations of gross violation of the provisions of the Statutes and other extant laws governing football.

However, the Executive Committee of the Ekiti FA waived the suspension today at a Board meeting held in Ado Ekiti.

According to the communique of the meeting released by the Ekiti FA Secretary, Pelumi Abiara, the Board "resolved to lift the suspension meted out to erring members of the association following successful appeals and interventions."

The release also revealed that Monday 20th, March has been scheduled for an Extra Ordinary General Assembly of the Ekiti FA congress "to choose a date for an Elective Congress to elect the new leadership of the Ekiti FA as the administration of the current Board draws to a close."

Also at the meeting, the Ekiti FA Board led by Mr. Bayo Olanlege promised that it will work passionately until their last day in office, empowering Ekiti youth using football as a veritable tool.

RESOLUTIONS OF BOARD MEETING OF THE EKITI STATE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION HELD ON MARCH 2ND, 2023

The Executive Committee members of the Ekiti State Football Association convened on Thursday, 2nd March, 2023 to deliberate on pressing matters arising within the association.

At the end of the meeting, the Board members resolved as follows:

1. That the association lauded the efforts of the Nigerian Football Federation led by President Ibrahim Gusau, especially with the recent successes of the U-20 male national team, the Flying Eagles at the ongoing African Championship ongoing in Egypt.

2. They heaped praises on the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji for his encouragement through the consistent promises of a conducive environment for the continued development of the football sector.

3. The Ekiti FA appreciated all the Ekiti FA affiliates, including the local football councils and the other components. The board enjoined the LFCs to intensify efforts for peaceful and credible elections of their EXCOs on March 7th, 2023. It also urged other components who have not picked dates for their election to do so as soon as possible.

4. The Board agreed on Monday 20th, March, 2023 for an Extra Ordinary General Assembly to choose a date for an Elective Congress to elect the new leadership of the Ekiti FA as the administration of the current board draws to a close.

5. The Board commended the Board and Organizing Committee of the Bet9ja Ekiti Football League for their tireless preparations for the third edition of the competition, arguably the best state league in Nigeria. The Board assured of its support from kick-off on 9th of March, 2023 till the final which has been tentatively scheduled to hold on 20th May, 2023. They urged the team to uphold the current cooperation with the organizers and maintain a good conduct in the league matches.

6. The Board hands off from activities of Ekiti United FC for wanton disregard of the State FA and failure to follow due process despite the best support and contributions of the association to the club.

7. They resolved to lift the suspension meted out to erring members of the association following successful appeals and interventions.

8. The Board maintained that, until the last day in office, it will continue to elevate the game to engage more talented footballers in the grassroots, and build capacity in its members, driven by its mantra of empowering Ekiti youth using football as a veritable tool.
