ANSFA CHAIRMAN, REP COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN DISCUSS GRASSROOT FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT IN ABUJA

Abuja – The Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), General Chikelue Iloenyosi, on Thursday hosted the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Hon. Prof. Obiageli Lilian Orogbu, at his office in Abuja for a strategic meeting aimed at advancing grassroots football development.

The meeting, described as productive and forward-looking, focused on exploring practical measures to strengthen grassroots football in Anambra State and expand opportunities for young talents across the country.

During the deliberations, both leaders exchanged ideas on the need for increased collaboration among government institutions, sports stakeholders, and private sector partners to support football development at the grassroots level. They stressed that sustained investment in youth sports would not only promote healthy lifestyles but also serve as a platform for talent discovery, youth empowerment, and social development.

Speaking during the meeting, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to initiatives that will encourage greater youth participation in sports and create an enabling environment for aspiring footballers to develop their talents.

The meeting ended with a renewed resolve to work together in promoting grassroots football as a catalyst for youth development and sustainable sporting excellence in Anambra State and Nigeria at large.

COMMUNIQUE OF THE 2026 ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE ANAMBRA STATE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (ANSFA) HELD AT EAST END HOTEL AWKA ON FRIDAY, 6TH FEBRUARY, 2026.

The Annual General Assembly congratulated his Excellency, Prof Charles Soludo CFR on his recent second tenure election victory. The Congress also thanked him for the inclusion of football in the Onwa Dezemba Yuletide celebrations.

The Congress thanked Chief Dr Polycarp Emenike (odenigbo Nanka) CEO, Neros Pharmaceuticals on his continuous Sponsorship of the Neros Anambra State FA Cup, running over 25 years. The Congress also thanked Chief Martin Nwabueze Akubudike N’umudioka for taking up the Sponsorship of Anambra State Football League after many shied away.

The Congress further appreciated the Nigeria Football Federation led by Alh. Ibrahim Gusau for providing enabling environment for football growth and advancement in Nigeria.
The Congress praised the leadership of the State football Association for the tremendous improvement of the game and the new wave of grassroots’ football development across the state.

The Congress approved the FA’s budget for 2026 financial year as presented.
The Congress confirmed the 5 years Suspension of two individuals; Mr. Ikechukwu Leonard Igbokwe and Mr. Chijioke Onyedika from taking part in football activities in Anambra State.

The Congress called on the well meaning individuals & corporate bodies to invest more in football infrastructures, development and competitions.

Unanimous vote of Confidence was passed on the leadership of the Anambra State football Association led by Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi for his exemplary stewardship in advancing football in the State.
