Edo under 17 Football League week Two: Shavik FA beats MFM FC as league new comers suffer two straight defeats.
Football fans at the Supply and Transport military barracks Uselu and her environs were thrilled with beautiful display of football skills and goals today as MFM FC hosted Shavik FA at the military barracks football field on Sunday in a week two fixture of the Edo Under 17 football league.
In a game that appeared to be very intense due to the regional rivalry of both teams, saw Shavik FC starting the game on a very positive note as Ehioghiren Osahon headed home from a corner kick taken by Osaigbovo Theophilus just 38 seconds into the encounter to take the away team a goal up.
Exactly six minutes later, the captain of the day for Shavik FA, Elijah Okafor pounced on a lose ball from the MFM goalkeeper who didnt do well enough to clear his lines after a well curled free-kick from Akhigbe Divine caused troubles for the lanky goalkeeper. The goal from the skipper made it 2:0 for Shavik FA.
The captain of the home team, Obosa Enabulele however reduced the deficit before the break with a beautiful free-kick from 28 yards, beating Evans Odumamwen the Shavik FA goalkeeper in the process.
The second half was full of actions from both teams as MFM FC came out in their numbers to try to score the vital equaliser, while Shavik FA also made several attempts to extend the lead, but the defence of both teams appeared very solid.
However, Leonard Onile, a second half substitute tapped in from close range to extend Shavik FA lead after a well worked counter attack by Promise Odutemu who set the beautiful assist for Leonard to calmly finish just few seconds before the final whistle.
Action returns on Monday in the Edo under 17 football league as Efe-Urhocity HVFA will be hosting the defending champions Dynamo Academica FC at the Urora secondary school field by 3pm, while Adia Sports FC will be welcoming visiting Super Stars FC on Monday also. The last game for the week two will be on Wednesday as Elite Stars FC will be playing host to Shooting arrow FC.
