According to reports from SABC Sport, South Africa's Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Peace Mabe, indicates that South Africa is being evaluated as a potential host nation for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, should Morocco fail to proceed with hosting duties, with a mere 60 days until the tournament's commencement.

CAF confirmation is still pending.

This emerging development could be linked to the recent controversy surrounding the AFCON 2025 hosting arrangements, resultant AFCON sanctions, and the adverse online reaction from certain Moroccan supporters, although CAF has yet to release an official statement.

Terem Moffi has officially joined FC Porto on a season-long loan from OGC Nice! The Super Eagles striker is looking for a fresh start after a tough spell in France, where he was physically attacked by Nice supporters. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has handed down sanctions following the AFCON 2025 final.

Senegal has been fined $615,000 for misconduct by supporters, team misbehaviour, and multiple bookings.

Head coach Pape Thiaw has been suspended for five CAF matches, while Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr have each received a two-match ban.

Morocco has been fined $315,000 for misconduct by ball boys, team misbehaviour, and the use of laser pointers by fans.

Additionally, CAF has rejected Morocco's appeal to strip Senegal of the AFCON 2025 title.
