It’s been great playing Logan Batiste the past few days. Logan earned his way to compete this week through of Greater New Orleans. Appreciate all they do at this event to give junior golfers opportunities to compete at their highest level. Good luck in the final round Logan 👊🏿

When I heard in 1975 that Lee Elder was the first black man to play in the Masters, I was astonished. There were a number of great black golfers before Lee that deserved the opportunity to compete at Augusta National, so his invitation in 1975 was long overdue. Lee has always represented himself and the game of golf wonderfully! Just like 1975, having Lee on the first tee was the right thing and a very special thing! I was delighted that they honored Lee for the man he is, the golfer he has been, and the inspiration he has been and still is.
I wasn’t sure if Lee was going to hit a tee shot. I told him, “Lee, why don’t you hit one? I really don’t mind being the shortest hitter. If you just hit the ball, you'll out-drive me by 3 yards."
