In June 2024, Oluwatomisin Eludipo seized a life-changing opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a football player at Faulkner University in the United States.

Two months later, she is unveiled and officially recognized as a student of Faulkner University.

At Uburu Africa, we are an organization aimed at the development of football in Africa, alongside the importance of education among aspiring athletes. On this note, we are dedicated to providing young athletes with opportunities to pursue their aspirations on the pitch, without jeopardizing their presence in the classrooms.

Tomisin is one of many of them.

We are excited to announce that Grace Ambrose Nnesoma has joined Alcorn University, a school playing in the highest division of the US college league system. Grace initially was to join Tyler Junior College, but we decided to go with Alcorn University. Wishing Grace a glorious academic year at Alcorn.

We also want to extend our gratitude to the Abia State Sports Commission for the support and efforts in making this a reality.

We also want to appreciate Abraham Jane, Grace's personal manager, for the sacrifice in making this come through.

It takes a whole village to train a child.

We are excited to announce another full scholarship offer from Tyler Junior College for one of our beneficiary. Samiat Azeez was discovered by the Uburu team from Chosen Generation Football Club based in Wasimi, Ogun State Nigeria. She will be sharing her full story soon.

Tomisin catches up with her new colleagues at Faulkner University.

This is a testament to the work we are doing here at Uburu Africa. Today one of our own, Oluwatomisin Eludipo leaves for the United States to further her studies and advance her football career.

MEET UBURU AFRICA SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEE!

Ambrose Nmesoma Grace is an indigene of Imo state Nigeria.

She started playing football on the street at a very young age. Then she joined a Pro League side,” Gift of Life Football Academy” . She played with them for a couple of years before joining Abia Angels Football Club of Aba.

Grace was recently scouted on the Uburu Africa database by Coach Corey and offered a full scholarship to Tyler Junior College Texas, United States.

The 2022 Men’s World Cup highlighted the growth and skill of African teams on the global stage. And with the 2023 Women’s World Cup starting next month African football is now set to embark on a new era. The talent is there and so is the passion for the game.

With all the talent on the continent it’s important that the next generation is given every opportunity to succeed.

As we start to get ready for recruitment season 2024 we can’t wait to see all the new talent securing their scholarships to US colleges 🙌

Soccer is already a global favorite and it is quickly becoming a first choice sport for young people in the USA with men’s and women’s college soccer available on large TV networks.

Soccer participation grows year on year with the game being offered far more frequently in colleges. This results in a much larger base of experienced players playing at a high level with greater appreciation for the game.

Forbes reported the strong recovery of international student enrolment into US colleges since the decrease caused by the pandemic.
With the help Uburu Africa offers to players who have limited economic means to get opportunities to a play college soccer and get a college education we will continue to see this growth.
