Adio Tips Kwara United Against Kano Pillars, Criticizes 3SC’s Wastefulness, Urges NFF Interim Leadership To Prioritize Football Interest
Legendary Sports administrator, Alhaji Hameed Adio, has backed Kwara United to begin the new Nigeria Premier Football League season with victory against Kano Pillars, while also offering a critical assessment of Shooting Stars’ performance & the recent shake-up at the Nigeria Football Federation.
Speaking ahead of the weekend fixtures, Adio urged supporters to demonstrate discipline & learn from the sanctions of last season to ensure a hitch-free campaign.
On Kwara United’s home opener, the veteran administrator expressed confidence that the Harmony Boys are well positioned to secure maximum points.
"Kwara United will excel in their opening game against Kano Pillars. The team has prepared well & the state has provided the necessary backing.
Now the players must justify that investment, & the fans must turn out to give them the 12th-man advantage,"Adio said.
He reminded spectators of the cost of indiscipline, referencing the banishment Kwara United suffered last season.
"We must learn from last year’s banishment. The interest of Kwara State must come first. Let us support the team peacefully & create an atmosphere that inspires victory," he added.
On Shooting Stars, Adio noted that while the Oluyole Warriors secured a 2-1 win over newly promoted Inter Lagos FC on Friday, their failure to convert one of two penalties awarded is a concern ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
"For 3SC, the win is important, but wasting a penalty from two opportunities is not good for a team preparing for a continental challenge. They must use every match to build sharpness, concentration & composure. Continental football will punish such lapses" he stated.
Adio also addressed recent resignation & shake-up within the NFF leadership. He charged the newly appointed interim officers to put the best & patronize football interests
