ABS Ilorin FC Set August 28 Resumption Date Ahead of 2026/27 NNL Season
Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin Football Club have announced Friday, August 28, 2026, as the official resumption date for players ahead of the 2026/2027 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The announcement comes shortly after the club officially unveiled experienced tactician Festus Allen as its new Technical Adviser, as the Saraki Boys begin preparations for a fresh campaign with renewed ambition.
Training is scheduled to commence on Monday, August 31, 2026, with the club set to begin an intensive build-up ahead of the new NNL season.
As part of the preparations, ABS Ilorin FC has also opened its doors to young and talented players interested in joining the club. The screening exercise is expected to last for two weeks, providing promising players with an opportunity to showcase their abilities and earn a place in the team.
The club is encouraging talented footballers within and outside Kwara State to take advantage of the screening and present themselves for assessment by the technical crew.
The resumption and screening exercise mark the beginning of a new chapter for ABS Ilorin FC under the guidance of Festus Allen, who has returned to the club with the ambition of helping the Saraki Boys secure a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

ABS Ilorin FC Congratulates Olakunle Olusegun on Move to FC Rostov
Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC has congratulated former forward Olakunle Olusegun on completing his transfer to Russian Premier League side FC Rostov.
Olusegun, who began his professional journey with ABS Ilorin FC, has continued to make significant progress in his football career. The talented forward joins Rostov from FC Krasnodar after spending the second half of last season on loan at FC Pari Nizhny Novgorod, where he sought more regular playing opportunities.
His move to FC Rostov represents another important step in the career of the former ABS FC player, who has continued to demonstrate his quality, determination and ambition on the international stage.
ABS Ilorin FC is proud of Olakunle Olusegun's development and the progress he has made since leaving the club. His journey serves as a source of inspiration to young players who continue to dream of making their mark in professional football.

Golden Moments as ABS FC Director High Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka Nwachigoziri I, Wife Celebrate Unique 50-50 Golden Jubilee in Ilorin.
It was a day of joy, gratitude and unforgettable memories in Ilorin as the Director of Football ABS FC , High Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka Nwachigoziri I and his wife, Lolo Helen Chukwuemeka, celebrated their golden jubilee in grand style.
The celebration will remain evergreen in the hearts of many who witnessed the historic occasion. What made the event particularly unique was that both husband and wife, who are age mates, marked their 50th birthdays together—a rare milestone that inspired the theme of the celebration, "50-50 Birthday Celebration."
The day's activities commenced with a thanksgiving service at St. Joseph's Catholic Cathedral, Ilorin, where the Catholic Bishop of Ilorin Most Rev. Dr. Ansalem Lawani offered prayers for God's continued guidance, good health, prosperity and abundant blessings upon the celebrants and their family.
Following the church service, guests proceeded to Bovina Hotels, Ilorin, where a colourful reception was held to commemorate the remarkable milestone.
The event attracted sports administrators, journalists, prominent businessmen, Politicians, captains of industry, community leaders and dignitaries from various walks of life, all of whom gathered to celebrate the couple's golden jubilee.
Delivering a goodwill message, the Grand Mukadam of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Sulaiman Dan-Bornu, congratulated the celebrants on attaining the age of 50, describing the occasion as a special blessing from God.
The Islamic cleric noted that High Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka had distinguished himself through his humanitarian contributions, touching countless lives and restoring hope to many who had once lost it.
He urged the celebrant not to relent in his service to humanity and prayed for continued peace, good health and prosperity for him, his wife and their entire family.
Adding colour and cultural richness to the event, various Igbo cultural troupes thrilled guests with traditional dance performances, showcasing the beauty and vibrancy of Igbo heritage.
Guests were entertained with sumptuous meals and exceptional hospitality befitting the grandeur of the occasion. Veteran disc jockey, DJ Bishop, kept the atmosphere lively with a selection of classic and contemporary music that perfectly complemented the celebration.
One of the major highlights of the reception was the grand entrance of the celebrants, who were received with a special guard of honour. As they made their way into the hall, guests rose to their feet in a standing ovation amid thunderous applause, celebrating a couple whose love, friendship and shared journey have become an inspiration to many.
In recognition of High Chief Chukwuemeka's contributions to sports as a former football referee, members of the professional referees' association also staged a ceremonial guard of honour in honour of him and his wife.
Similarly, the Kwara State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), led by its Chairman, Ayodeji Ismail, presented the celebrants with a specially commissioned portrait artwork beautifully depicting the couple together. The presentation drew warm applause from guests and added another memorable moment to the unique celebration.
