NASARAWA UNITED SLUMP TO LATE DEFEAT IN EUROMATCH NPFL OPENER.

The Solid Miners' 2026/27 Euromatch Nigeria Premier league Campaign got off to a disappointing start after they fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Barau FC at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Sunday evening.

Despite showing early resilience to draw 1-1 after right back, Abubakar Abdullahi, benefitted from a Mohammed Umar's assist in the 20th minute to cancel out Joseph Atule's 15th minute strike.

Goalkeeper, Olughu Chinemerem, superbly saved a penalty before the break as Nasarawa United looked set to compete deep into the second half, but were undone by two late goals in the closing stages of the highly intense contest.

Al'Amin Umar and Suga Aliyu, each netted in the 78th and 82nd minutes, respectively, for their side to make the task daunting for the Solid Miners, who will now turn their focus to bouncing back in their next match against Bendel Insurance of Benin on Sunday, 6th September, 2026, at home in Lafia, by 4pm.

Today's result leaves Nasarawa United on 14th position, two spots behind Barau FC.
