TESTIMONIALS OF WEIGHT LOSE DUE TO SALSA DANCING
Writer: Julie Berger
Source: Salsa in the Suburbs Dance Studio
Two women who struggled with weight loss have turned to salsa dancing to help them keep off the pounds and they have found a new zest for life along the way. Cathy Moretti and Monika Barman, who take dance lessons at Salsa In The Suburbs Dance Studio, say they feel more energized and more self-confident since shedding unwanted pounds.
"It has changed my life completely". – Cathy Moretti
Dancing has become an integral part of a momentous lifestyle change, and it’s registering inwardly and outwardly, and neither of them envision stopping.
Monika not only noticed that she has more energy, but feels more confident and has become a better dancer since returning to the studio for regular dance lessons. “It’s just part of my healthy lifestyle,” she says.

Dance is the fastest growing art form.
Whether you like to jump or jive, tap or tango, shake your belly or your b***y, dancing is one of the most enjoyable ways to get some exercise.
Regular dancing is great for losing weight, maintaining strong bones, improving posture and muscle strength, increasing balance and co-ordination and beating stress.
One of the best things about dancing is that while you’re having fun moving to music and meeting new people, you’re getting all the health benefits of a good workout.
Before you start:-
Wear comfortable clothing that gives you freedom of movement, and shoes appropriate to the dance style. Some classes – such as salsa, african or jazz – may require specialist footwear, depending on your level. Avoid wearing jewellery – such as earrings, rings and necklaces – which can scratch you or get caught in clothing.
Dance styles:-
1. Salsa (Friday, 7pm)
Salsa dancing is a fun and flirtatious form of partner dancing, fusing steamy Afro-Caribbean and Latin styles into simple and lively movements. The word “salsa” is Spanish for “sauce” (usually hot and spicy), which is an appropriate description for a dance that is energetic, passionate and sexy. The basic steps are easy to learn and you’ll salsa your way across the dance floor before you know it.
2. African (Tuesday - 7pm, Saturday - 7am)
African dance refers mainly to the dance of Sub-Saharan Africa, and more appropriately African dances because of the many cultural differences in musical and movement styles. African dance utilizes the concept of polyrhythm as well as total body articulation.
3. Hip Hop (Wednesday - 7am)
Hip-hop is a dance style, usually danced to hip-hop music, that evolved from the hip-hop culture. Hip-hop includes various moves such as breaking, popping, locking and krumping, and even house dance. Improvisation and personal interpretation are essential to hip-hop dancing.
Find a dance class:-
The easiest way to get into dancing is to contact a dance agency/organization/venue in your area. That is why was created.
