*ANFASSC: SUPER EAGLES’ VICTORY OVER MADAGASCAR A STATEMENT OF INTENT FOR 2027 AFCON QUALIFICATION*

Uyo, Nigeria — September 25, 2026

The Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC) has described the Super Eagles’ 2-1 victory over Madagascar in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as a powerful statement of intent, signalling Nigeria’s determination to return to the continent’s biggest stage.

National President Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi, who led a vibrant delegation of ANFASSC members to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, said the comeback win demonstrated the team’s mental fortitude and the effectiveness of the coaching staff’s game management.

“This victory is more than three points,” Ogunjimi said. “It is a message to the rest of Group L and to African football that Nigeria is ready. The way the team responded after going a goal down shows a group of players who are hungry, united, and committed to the cause. That is the Super Eagles spirit we know and love.”

Ogunjimi highlighted the performances of debutants George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor, whose goals secured the comeback. He noted that their impact reflected the depth within Nigerian football and the importance of giving young talent opportunities on the biggest stage.

“Ilenikhena and Usor showed that the future of Nigerian football is bright,” he said. “They grabbed the opportunity given to them to play for the Super Eagles, that is what competition for places does , it brings out the best in everyone.

As supporters, we are proud to witness the emergence of the next generation of Super Eagles stars.”

The ANFASSC President also reiterated the club’s commitment to standing by the national team through every challenge, emphasising that the supporters’ role as the “12th man” is not limited to home matches but extends to away fixtures across the continent.

“We are not fair-weather supporters,” Ogunjimi affirmed. “Wherever the Super Eagles play, ANFASSC will be there — drums, trumpets, voices, and spirit. Our loyalty never wavers, and our belief in this team is unshakable.

The qualification campaign is long, and we will be with them through every high and every low.”

The result places Nigeria level on points with Guinea-Bissau in Group L, with the Super Eagles set to face Guinea-Bissau in their next fixture on Tuesday, September 29. Ogunjimi called on Nigerian fans to continue their passionate support, both in the stadiums and from afar.

“This team needs all of us,” he concluded. “Let us fill the stands, raise our voices, and show the world that Nigeria’s support is second to none. The journey to 2027 starts now, and we are all part of it.”
