Healthy Pigs Start with Healthy Nutrition
One of the biggest mistakes in pig farming is relying almost entirely on cassava peels. While cassava peels can provide energy, they do not offer the balanced nutrition pigs need for strong growth, good immunity, and overall health.
On our farm, we feed our pigs a diverse diet of fresh herbs, tree leaves, soft grasses, and shredded plantain trunks. This natural feeding approach helps strengthen their immune system and reduces the need for frequent medications.
Some of the plants we feed include:
- Moringa leaves
- Soft grasses such as Guinea grass, Elephant (Napier) grass, Carpet grass, and Brachiaria grass
- Mango leaves
- Papaya leaves
- Neem leaves
- Bitter leaf
- Scent leaves (African basil)
- Shredded plantain trunks
These plants provide vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fibre, and beneficial plant compounds that support digestion, improve gut health, and enhance the pigs' natural resistance to diseases.
Our philosophy is simple: we don't wait for our pigs to get sick before taking action—we build their immune system every day through proper nutrition.
Healthy nutrition leads to healthier pigs, lower veterinary costs, improved productivity, and better-quality pork.
What you feed your animals today determines the health and profitability of your farm tomorrow.
Food is the first medicine. Build your livestock's immunity through proper nutrition, not just medication.

WHY THEY CALL ME THE UNREPENTANT FARMER 🌱
People often ask me, "Why do you call yourself De Unrepentant Farmer?"
Because every time life tried to stop me, it gave me another reason to keep farming.
I started this journey after losing loved ones to food poisoning. I made a promise to help produce healthier, chemical-free food for my community.
I trained rice farmers in North-East Nigeria to grow rice without synthetic fertilizers. Their harvest was amazing, and with my share, I leased my own farm.
Then herdsmen destroyed my 40-acre rice farm.
While escaping, I fell off a motorcycle and suffered a severe arm injury.
That wound led me to research natural skincare, and today it has become one of our successful product lines.
Later, another farm was destroyed by grazing cattle. Instead of giving up, we turned our harvested groundnuts into premium groundnut oil and kuli-kuli.
Then motherhood inspired another innovation. After too many hospital visits because of malaria, I asked myself:
"If herbs can protect my livestock, why can't they protect my family?"
That question gave birth to our natural mosquito and sandfly repellent.
Today, that painful journey has grown into 38+ natural products, a 13-acre integrated farm in Ogun State, Nigeria, where we grow crops and raise almost every kind of livestock—except snakes! 😂 We also proudly export our products to customers around the world.
Every product we make has a story behind it.
A story of pain... turned into purpose.
A story of loss... turned into innovation.
So if you're going through a difficult season, don't let it define you.
Let it become the foundation of your next breakthrough.
That's why they call me De Unrepentant Farmer.
What's your own resilience story? I'd love to read it in the comments.

The Missing Link in Nigeria's Food Security Agenda
Yesterday was an inspiring and memorable day as I was honored with an award in recognition of my contribution to food security in Nigeria.
During the event, I was asked to share a policy recommendation that could strengthen our nation's food system. My response was clear: Nigeria urgently needs a national indigenous seed bank to preserve our local seed varieties before they disappear. These seeds are part of our heritage, biodiversity, and food sovereignty. Farmers should have access to them for cultivation, conservation, and future generations.
I also spoke about the importance of biofortified crops and the critical role of nutrition education. Mothers and caregivers must go beyond simply preparing meals; they need access to knowledge about the nutritional value of what they place on the family table and how food can contribute to healthier lives.
Nigeria is richly blessed with nourishing foods, medicinal plants, and agricultural resources. Yet, a lack of knowledge often leads many families to spend heavily on preventable health challenges when solutions may already exist in their backyards, farms, and even their plant pots.
Food security is not only about producing enough food—it is about preserving our agricultural heritage, improving nutrition, and empowering people with knowledge.
I remain committed to advancing sustainable agriculture, nutrition awareness, youth empowerment, and food security across Nigeria and Africa.
This award is not just a recognition of past efforts but a reminder of the work that still lies ahead.

Beauty of The Gen Z is in their Creative Minds
I was forming a shawarma wrap with my plantain flour when my little one, watching quietly from a corner of the kitchen, suggested we try using garri to make the wrap.
At first, it sounded funny… almost impossible. But I dared to try it—and with a little chicken fat to soften the hardness, we ended up with a unique, edible wrapper!
This playful moment reminded me of the incredible creative potential of young people and how much they could achieve if we get them involved early in farming and agro-innovation.
As a clinical psychologist for children and young people, I speak in schools and training programs to show students the importance and dignity in labour, while teaching them that growing their food is just as vital as growing their knowledge.
Through initiatives like Agro-Innovators Day, embedded in school systems, exposing students to practical farming, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
The goal is simple: equip them with the skills, mindset, and confidence to become tomorrow’s agro-Innovators and change-makers.
These and many more are things I gathered from African Food Changemakers
Young minds + practical experience = limitless possibilities.
To the educators, school administrators and parents reading this: How are you helping the next generation connect knowledge with action and practical skills? How are you nurturing creativity in them? Can you share your experiences
