"It's not the disability that defines you; it's how you deal with the challenges the disability presents you with. We have an obligation to the abilities we DO have, not the disability."

New Year’s goals are about making lasting improvements. Those who believe in themselves, armed with the right tools, can achieve just about anything.

This post will give you some potential goal ideas to start off 2023 on the right foot.

Why Are New Year Goals Important? The Fresh-Start Effect
There is a BIG psychological advantage to aligning goals with the calendar, the aptly named “Fresh Start Effect,” coined in a 2014 paper by Katherine L. Milkman.

People create more new goals at the beginning of the month and year as compared with the end,” explains Milkman, largely because “motivation to pursue personal goals can be altered by the initiation of new mental accounting periods... [such as] time dividers on the yearly calendar.”

In essence, we experience a natural spike in motivation when transitioning into a new period, whether that’s a whole new year or just another Monday.

We’re more likely to commit to and achieve any goals we set when our expectancy is higher, when we’re mentally empowered to put past failure behind us and future success in front.

Personal growth goals: Introspection feels natural during transition periods, so a personal growth goal may just be the perfect start to your list!

Health goals: It’s hard to achieve your goals when you don’t feel spritely or alert, so add some healthy aims to your 2023 goals list and see the difference it makes to both work and play.

Professional development goals: Rather than falling victim to a hypnotic work-week cycle, Professional goals help you to change the way in which you work, perfect for those wanting to set productivity records!

What are the benefits of swimming for kids?

Swimming is a significant physical exercise at any age. At the same time, swimming can provide a wealth of benefits over & above physical conditioning for kids, including mental, social, & safety benefits that other exercises just can’t offer.

Here are some benefits of swimming for kids listed for you to take a look at.

1. Teaches Water Safety.

According to some research, drowning remains the top cause of injury-related death among children aging 1-4 years. And while prevention of drowning needs layers of protection, swimming lessons have been proven to reduce the drowning risk by nearly 88%.

2. Offers Physical Exercise.

Swimming is a fun method to keep your children active & healthy all year round. While most individuals know swimming is a terrific low-impact cardiac exercise, it also offers a whole lot of other health benefits, like enhancing endurance, balance, strength, flexibility, & more!

So, if you want your kid and self to have all those physical health benefits, kindly call us now.

3. Helps with Cardiovascular Health.

With regard to cardiovascular health, swimming is one of the best activities as it helps condition the lungs & heart to work together more effectively. As a result, the heart does not have to work as hard to pump out blood & oxygen throughout your child’s body.

4. Enhances Lungs Capacity.

One of the primary thing swimmers are being taught from the start is how to control their breath, which on the other hand, helps enhance their lung capacity. However, this allows oxygen to pump through the body & provide energy more effectively.

Conclusion:

All in all, life is one massive pool filled with morals that change us, challenge us, & push us beyond our comfort zone. Swimming will provide children the confidence

Making Water Activities Safer

Water related accidents and are preventable.

A growing body of research provides evidence of a strong link between water safety education and a reduction in
drowning deaths.

Understanding the importance of water safety education as a public health tool,
the International Life Saving Federation (ILS) issued a position statement on the importance of water safety education.

ILS Statement, on Water Safety Educationand Drowning Prevention.

Knowledge and understanding of water
environments and their associated hazards should be taught to everyone at the earliest possible age.

This awareness training should be accompanied by the provision of swimming teaching, in the safest manner possible and to at least a basic level of skill that provides the capacity for survival after unexpected and sudden immersion
in water.

Acquisition of more advanced water safety knowledge and swimming skills, to include water rescue and competitive swimming, should be encouraged as these enhance aquatic safety.

Water hazards should be reduced wherever possible, particularly where swimming and water safety education take place.

Trained lifeguards should provide prevention, rescue and treatment where recreational swimming and water safety education take place.

9. Wherever possible, organizations with
drowning-prevention expertise, based in high income countries, should provide assistance to lower-income countries.

Accessible and affordable training in water safety and swimming skills should, ideally, be made available for everyone, particularly children, in all countries, to a level consistent with the ILS International Water Safety and Swimming Education Guidelines. (Source: International
Life Saving Federation, 2007)

RECREAIONAL SWIMMING

Recreational swimming has become very popular since the 19th century. Built in the early 1920s, king George V pool Onikan, was among the first pools in Lagos, Nigeria. Today, pools are everywhere.

Just as the number of places for swimming has increased, so have the kinds of activities people enjoy in the water.

While water can be a source of relaxation and fun, it also presents a risk for drowning.

Each year, young children and non-swimmers tragically die because parents, caregivers and onlookers fail to recognize or notice the danger posed by bathtubs, toilets, kiddie pools, and beaches.

Many of these tragic situations could have been avoided by simply following basic water safety rules and recognizing the risks associated with all types of aquatic activities and environments.
