Before anyone starts YouTube, I like to ask one simple question:

"What opportunities do you want your YouTube channel to create?"

Most people pause when they hear it. ๐Ÿค”

Because they realise they've been thinking about videos...
..instead of the opportunities those videos are meant to create.

If your goal is to attract clients, you'll create different content from someone whose goal is to land international speaking engagements.

If your goal is to build a community, your approach will be different from someone who wants to attract investors, recruit great talent or grow your influence.

That's why I don't believe content planning should start with video ideas.

It should start with the opportunity you're trying to create. โœ…

When you're clear about that, deciding what to post becomes much easierโ€”and every piece of content begins to move you in the same direction.

Imagine it's three years from now and your YouTube channel has exceeded every expectation.

What opportunities has it created for you?

I'd love to hear your answers. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Whenever I'm discussing YouTube strategy, I like to start with one question.

I ask:

"If your YouTube channel were an employee, what would its job description be?" ๐Ÿค”

Most people never think about it.

They assume their channel's job is simply to get views and subscribers.

I disagree.

Every YouTube channel should have one primary job.
For one business, that job might be attracting qualified leads.

For another, it might be building credibility before a sales conversation.

Someone else may use it to attract speaking engagements, educate customers or grow a community.

None of those goals is wrong.

The mistake is expecting one channel to do everything at once.

When a team member doesn't have a clear job description, they end up busy... but not necessarily productive.

I think the same is true for YouTube.

When your channel has a clearly defined role, your content becomes more focused, your decisions become easier, and success becomes much easier to measure.

So here's a question I'd leave you with today:
If your YouTube channel were an employee, what would its job description be?

I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts. ๐Ÿ˜Š

One of the things I love most about YouTube is this:

Your audience doesn't always have to find you by accident.

Sometimes, they go looking for you. ๐Ÿ”

Every day, people search YouTube because they have a question, a challenge or a problem they're trying to solve.

They're looking for answers.

The question is...

Will they find YOUโ“

That's why I don't think visibility is just about posting more content.

It's about creating content that helps the right people find you when they need you most.

Imagine someone searching for exactly the kind of expertise you have.

Would your content appear?

Or would they end up learning from someone else simply because you weren't visible?

One of the reasons I recommend YouTube so often is that your videos don't disappear after 24 hours.

For weeks, months, and even years after you've published them, they can continue introducing you to people who are actively searching for what you know.

To me, this is one of the most powerful forms of visibility.๐Ÿ”ฅ

Not interrupting people, but being discoverable when they're already looking.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Consistency gets a lot of praise.๐Ÿ‘

And rightly so.

But I sometimes wonder if we talk about it a little too early.

One of the questions I'm often asked is,

"How do I stay consistent on YouTubeโ“"

It's a fair question.

But I don't think consistency is where most successful YouTube channels begin.

I think they begin with clarity.

Clarity about who they're trying to reach.

Clarity about what they want to be known for.

Clarity about the kind of opportunities they want their content to attract.

Once those things are clear, consistency becomes much easier.

Think about it...

It's difficult to stay consistent when you're constantly wondering:

"What should I post next?"

"Will anyone care about this?"

"Am I attracting the right audience?"

That uncertainty can be exhausting.

But when you have a clear direction, you're no longer creating content just to stay active.

You're creating content with purpose. ๐ŸŽฏ

To me, that's one of the biggest differences between creators who simply post videos and those who build real authority through YouTube.

What do you think comes first?

Clarity or consistency?

๐Ÿ‘‡ I'd love to hear your thoughts.

What do you want to be known forโ“

It's a simple question.

But I've found that many people spend far more time thinking about what they want to do than what they want to be known for.

The two are not always the same.

I've had conversations with incredibly talented peopleโ€”people with impressive credentials, valuable expertise, and years of experience.

Yet when the conversation shifts to what they want to be known for, many struggle to answer clearly.

Not because they lack expertise.

But because they've never really stopped to think about it.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that clarity around what you want to be known for makes a lot of decisions easier.

What opportunities to pursue.

What content to create.

What conversations to join.

Even how you introduce yourself.

So here's a Saturday reflection for you ๐Ÿ˜Š

What do you want to be known for?

Not what you're currently known for.

Not what your job title says.

Not what people assume.

What do you want to be known for?

๐Ÿ‘‡ I'd love to hear your answer.

Most YouTube creators are doing the right things in the wrong order. โš ๏ธ

One thing I've noticed is that when people struggle on YouTube, the problem is usually not bad content.

It's not poor editing.

It's not weak thumbnails.

And surprisingly, it's often not SEO either.

The problem often starts much earlier.

Many creators spend weeks learning about algorithms, SEO, thumbnails, hooks, equipment, and editing before they've taken the time to answer some important questions:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Who exactly am I trying to reach?

๐Ÿ‘‰ What do I want to be known for?

๐Ÿ‘‰ What role should YouTube play in my business, brand, or career?

๐Ÿ‘‰ How will this content support my bigger goals?

As a result, they end up working very hard without a clear direction.

They are doing the right things.

Just in the wrong order.

๐Ÿ’ก Strategy doesn't always make growth faster.

But it almost always makes the journey less confusing.

Before worrying about growth, it may be worth asking:

Do I have a clear strategy for what I'm trying to build?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

What's one thing you've learned the hard way that would have saved you a lot of time if you'd known it earlier?
