AFCON Prize Money Increased, winner to get $7 million.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday, 4th January 2024 announced an increase of 40% in the prize money for the winner of the AFCON 2023.

CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe explained the importance of the increase of the prize money after it was disclosed to the public. He also emphasized on the progress CAF has made in the past two years.

“We have increased the Prize Money of the AFCON Winner to $7m which is a 40% increase from the previous AFCON Prize Money. I am confident that a portion of the Prize Money will contribute to developing football and also benefit all the football stakeholders, as well as assist our Member Associations with their administrations”; said Dr Patrice Motsepe.

The biggest Football governing body in Africa seeks to make the 34th edition a memorable one as it has always been.

The winners of the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will be receiving a whopping $7 million with the runner-up accumulating $4 million. The third and fourth-place teams will take home $2.5 million each while the quarter-finalists will also receive $1.3 million.

🚨 Relegation now looks like a very real prospect for Man City and Chelsea after the Premier League handed out a ten-point deduction to Everton.

Everton’s sanction was for a single breach of Premier League rules, while City have been charged with 115 alleged breaches. Chelsea remains under investigation but charges look inevitable

Given the sanction handed out to Everton, the threat of a 30-point deduction or automatic relegation from the Premier League would look to be very real for both City and Chelsea should charges be proved in an independent regulatory commission.
