The 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State has come to a close, and what a historic outing it has been for the Akwa Ibom Judo Team, proudly represented by our warriors from Wakuta Judo Club. This year marked our most successful National Sports Festival campaign yet, and we’re beaming with pride as we share the results:

–Enku Ekuta (–63kg)
– Immaculata Nelson (–57kg)

πŸ₯ˆ SILVER MEDAL
– Uforoemem Bassey (–70kg, in a new weight class)

πŸ₯‰ TEAM BRONZE (Mixed Team Event)
– Female Team: Enku, Immaculata, Uforoemem, Lilian
– Male Team: Anietie, Destiny, Kingsley, Precious

This amazing medal haul reflects teamwork, discipline, resilience, and world-class coaching Hats off to our Head Coach, EWA Ekuta,for his steadfast leadership, as well as Assistant Coaches, Coach Kachi and Coach Ade, whose behind-the-scenes dedication shaped every victory on the mat.

We also salute our Grand Patron, Coach Catherine Ekuta an Olympian, the current Director of Sports in Akwa Ibom State, and a lifelong champion of judo. Your guidance and presence continue to uplift and inspire everyone in this sport.

Wakuta Judo Club is beyond proud of every athlete, every coach, every supporter. You’ve all made history together.

πŸ’” On a somber note, we pause to extend our deepest condolences to the Kano State sports community, and especially the Kano Judo family, who suffered a tragic loss of over 20 lives in a fatal road accident, including the Kano State Judo Secretary and other dear sports heroes.
We grieve with their families and teammates, and we pray their souls rest in perfect peace. πŸ•ŠοΈ
May their legacy continue to live through the sport they so dearly loved.

As we close this unforgettable chapter of the National Sports Festival, we say thank you to our champions, coaches, and supporters. The spirit of judo lives on, in strength, in community, and in honor.

A total of 21 Associations successfully registered their athletes for the championship and yes that makes the crowd impressive πŸ₯°. And the athletes have enough bouts to prove themselves worthy of their medals.

Among the spectators and supporters today and some pupils and students from a schools in Benin city, who are either here to watch what judo is about or support their school mates.

And due to the large number of athletes participation this year, the number of supporters as increased drastically.

The referees had their usual prepping from their one and only Licensed International Judo Federation Referee in person of Coach Ewa Ekuta who also Triples as the Head of Wakuta Judo Club and Akwa Ibom State Judo Association.
