Bayelsa United Football Club has congratulated its Technical Adviser, Abdul Maikaba, and Nigeria's Flying Eagles for securing a place in the final of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship.
In a statement issued by the club's management board and signed by the Chairman, Dr. Peter Singabele, Bayelsa United described the achievement as a testament to Maikaba's wealth of experience, tactical discipline and commitment to youth football development, noting that his success on the continental stage reflects positively on the Prosperity Boys.
The Yenagoa-based club commended the Flying Eagles for their determination, resilience and team spirit throughout the tournament, adding that the qualification for the final is a proud moment for Nigerian football.
The management board expressed confidence that the national U-20 side would build on the momentum by lifting the WAFU B trophy, while also securing qualification for the next Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Bayelsa United further noted that Maikaba's impressive performance with the Flying Eagles reinforces the club's decision to appoint him as Technical Adviser ahead of the 2026/2027 Nigeria National League season.
The club wished the coach, his technical crew and the entire Flying Eagles squad success in the championship final, urging them to remain focused and determined as they aim to bring the title home to Nigeria.
Maikaba, who was recently unveiled as Bayelsa United's Technical Adviser, has continued to combine his role with the club and his responsibilities as head coach of the Flying Eagles, leading the national side to another impressive outing at the regional championship.
