Mercy Genesis, 50kg, Commonwealth Games champion and 5 time African champion, lost a controversial match at the Olympic qualifiers.

She was leading 5-4 at this point of the match with 9 seconds left on clock.
Did the Egyptian athlete attack before the whistle blew? Clearly you can see that Mercy let her guard down thinking there was going to be a warning and restart.

We qualified 5 out of a possible 6 female athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Congratulations to the coaches, support staff and athletes for such a wonderful job.

Mercy Genesis 50kg, Christinah Ogunsanya 53kg, Esther kolawale 62kg, Blessing Oborududu 68kg and Hannah Reuben 76kg have all progressed to the semi finals of the Africa/Oceania Paris 2024 Olympic qualifying tournament. They all wrestle at 5 pm local time in Alexandria, Egypt to punch Olympic tickets. Winners of the semi finals will qualify in each weight class. Fingers crossed. Good luck team!!!
