International Tournament SVU Amsterdam

Dear volleyballers,

It pains us to share with you that we’ve had to come to the conclusion to cancel this year’s International Tournament🚫😭 Considering the current COVID situation in the Netherlands and the guidelines we all have to follow, it’s neither possible for us to prepare for and host a tournament, nor would it be responsible of us to.

For now we wish you all happy holidays🎄 and a happy new year✨! Hopefully we’ll be able to welcome you all again to our tournament next year!🥳

Meet Alessia, the lovely middle blocker of Ladies 3. 🤩

Besides doing her heavy serves 🏐, she serves as a trainer/coach for Gents 4 too! She has a degree in Pedagogical Sciences and currently doing her masters.

It’s fun to have her around but wanna make it even more fun? Don’t forget the drinks and nachosss! But take note, bring fresh guacamole 🥑 WITHOUT garlic. You might end up seeing her scoop out the garlic using a fork. Or worse, she might not eat it at all.

Let us introduce you to our next committee meneer, Luna!!!
 🥳 Going by the Dutch saying 'op een been kan je niet lopen', this is Luna's second year in the IT-cie and she will be our lovely secretary, answering all your emails.

There is none who could be a better fit for the INTERNATIONAL tournament than Luna. She was born in California 🇺🇸, lived in Finland 🇫🇮, studied in England 🇬🇧, her parents live in Belgium 🇧🇪 and has now found her place in our midsts. Some little birdie also told me she found a veeeeery good place.... something to do with roommates and boyfriends? 🤨 Yes, during Covid Luna and her roommate took tango lessons together. Soon after, Luna was taking tango lessons with her boyfriend, and they are still going strong. 😎 Should you see a guy walking around with a bag in the shape of a turtle shell, with a girl on his arm, good chance it's them.

When Luna is not busy answering all of your emails, you can probably find her studying for her Masters in Management, Policy Analysis & Entrepreneurship in Health and Life Science (I know, what a name 🥸), or on her race bike 🚴🏼‍♀️, doing the rounds. One think she is into is fliedeljeppen and if there is one think you could wake her up for during IT, it's ravioli. 🍝

Today is the day! Time to introduce you to the one and only, in charge of the moneys as being treasurer of this year’s International Tournament Committee: Arjan 🥳

He is 27 years old and always running in his busy life. Not only is he the treasurer of this years board and IT-cie, he is also working fulltime as a tech recruiter and marketing assistant.

Then, if there is still time and energy left, he likes to do crazy things like joining the Dutch TV program the Datingquiz. Maybe it’s because he’s half Australian, but could also be it is just the way he is 🤪

Hopefully, he will think well about the moneys spending for the IT and not be crazy this time 😉

Meet Kit, this years match secretary! 🏐 This guy makes sure all the matches will start on time. He studies software development, so hopefully he will create an algorithm to improve the match schedule 🤓

You can wake him up for fried 🐔 and as you can see, he always shows his happy face. Or can he also be 🧛🏼‍♂️ like Voldemort ? Slide in our DM and ask! 😏

It’s Monday, and do you know what that means?😏 it’s time to introduce our next committee member, can you guess who this adorable little boy is?😍

Meet our first committee member, Elbrig!🙋🏼‍♀️ You may have seen a picture of this lovely lady before, since she was also in the committee last year. But, a new tournament also means a new role in the committee and therefore a new introduction! This year, she’s one half of the feestcie!💃🏻🥳

Elbrig is part of SVU’s ladies 1 team, and is currently studying biomedical science neurobiology🤓 However, she will leave the smarts behind for a weekend to help organize the most amazing parties for the International Tournament😏🍻🤩 Do you want to thank her for her hard work in organizing the party of a lifetime? Since we all know food is the way to one’s heart, you’ll get a long way by making her a wok dish with shrimp!🦐😋 And if cooking’s not really your thing, just give her a “dikke tût❤️”😉
