It's been a hot minute, but a LOT has happened in the Netball Netherlands scene over the past few months. π
Ahead of the big news that we kick-off our NEW NATIONAL LEAGUE season tomorrow (see below!), here's a whistle-stop tour and photodump of some of the things we've been up to...
π An epic grand final in July between Amsterdam Netball - Netball in The Netherlands and Utrecht Netball Club - Netball in the Netherlands to close off our first season. A tough battle on both sides (as you'd expect from a top 2 table clash), but Amsterdam eventually emerged inaugural champions with a score of 55-24. Congratulations to POM Blair and Johan, and Umpires' Fair Play Awarders JJ and Sam.
π Finals day also confirmed our overall Players of the Season, as voted by the opposing team and umpires at each national league game! Big congrats to Julia and Sam (both from Utrecht) for winning MVP and Umpiresβ Fair Play Award, respectively.
π A 2 day umpire and player coaching workshop with Netball Europe π€©. We had a coaching workshop teaching us how to empower players to develop new skills, and an umpiring workshop focused on umpiring the game and correct implementation of the new international rules. A great turnout across all the NL clubs, and what an inspiring weekend of learning from some veterans in the international netball governing world.
π Umpire mentoring sessions for several clubs, as part of our National Umpiring Development Framework. Aspiring umpires are mentored by qualified/experienced umpires within our league, to get detailed clarity of the rules, lots of direct match practice with immediate feedback, and gain confidence in their skills. We hope these sessions encourage more players to pick up a whistle and continue developing their netball knowledge, facilitating the growth of our game in the Netherlands as a whole. ππ»
π Launched our first official Netball Netherlands merch, featuring coaching and umpiring t-shirts, and sweatshirts with personalised netball quotes! π½
..And last (but certainly not least) - from tomorrow weβre back in full swing for the official launch of SEASON 2 of the national league! πͺπ»
Bigger and better than before, this season will see 35 matches taking place all over the Netherlands and Brussels over the next year. π³π±π§πͺ

Maastricht Netball started strong, building up a good 7 goal lead in Q1 and confining Rotterdam Netball Club to just 4 in Q2 ππ»
Rotterdam fought hard to claw their way back into the game, winning the second half 24 goals to 17 π₯ Ultimately however they were beaten by the clock. β±οΈ
With sharp shooting and some impressive intercepts on both ends, it was a classic grind between two well-matched teams π―ββοΈ Thank you to all players, umpires, officials and spectators for a great game.
Congrats to both teams for another game done and dusted, and good luck for your remaining matches π

This was Amsterdam's final game in a so-far unbeaten season in the league. Utrecht came to spoil the fun and took the victory in great style, in an appropriately epic match between the long-time rivals/friends πͺπ»
A game of two halves, with Utrecht getting off to a blistering 17-8 start before doubling their score to 34-18 by half time π₯
Amsterdam began valiantly clawing back the gap in the second half, settling into a better rhythm to only lose Q3 by a single goal π
They also made more regular use of the new tactical subs rule to rotate fresh legs and combos on the court, finishing the game with a winning 17 goal final quarter themselves.ππ»ββοΈ
But it was too little too late for the home side. Utrecht had already done all the damage with a 16 goal lead in the first halfβ¦and never took their feet off the pedal afterwards π
After POM awards it was then time for a fun social brunch together, to refuel energies after an intense game! πΎ
Thank you to all players, officials and spectators for a great match. And a special shoutout to our fab umpires Annika and Gary, for keeping the game in check, and always being happy to clarify any questions on the recent changes in the international rules (which are being strictly applied to all league games).π©π»βπ«
Congrats Amsterdam Netball - Netball in The Netherlands on finishing a fabulous first season - your fate now rests in the hands of the remaining games!π€π»
Congrats to Utrecht Netball Club - Netball in the Netherlands for a tremendous victory, and best of luck for your remaining games π

ONLY 5 GAMES TO GO until we complete the first season of our national league - can you believe it?! Hereβs how the tableβs looking so farβ¦π
Amsterdam Netball - Netball in The Netherlands currently lead the way with 3 wins. But with Netball Brussels and Utrecht Netball Club - Netball in the Netherlands hot on their heels and all 3 facing off against each other in the coming weeks, will we see some late season shake-ups? π²
Itβs also set to be a sizzling upcoming match between Maastricht Netball and Rotterdam Netball Club, currently only separated by goal difference. π₯
Weβve already seen some incredible matches so far from all teams, with several coming right down to the wire. We canβt wait to see what the remaining games bring, starting with 2 epic showdowns this Super Sunday (7th April).
More details of the upcoming matches tomorrow. And as always a huge thank you to our umpires, league coordinators and all other volunteers for helping us get the league off the ground in such spectacular fashion so far π
Good luck to teams playing in tomorrow's Rotterdam Netball Club tournament Rotterdam Netball Club Utrecht Netball Club - Netball in the Netherlands Maastricht Netball Amersfoort Netball Club / Amersfoort Dragons The Hague Netball Team - Netball in The Netherlands
May the best team have the best time (and a win of course ππ).
We also celebrate RNC for organising the event, and all the officiates for volunteering their time π«
The tournament is a round robin, everyone plays each other once, and the winner has the most points based on match wins.
