Saturday morning. I am reading a book about effective training. 📕
What is so special about it?
I am reading this professional book in DUTCH! 🇳🇱
Ok, so what?
My Dutch level is B1/B1+. This book is written for a regular Dutch reader. 🤓
It is uncomfortable and sometimes tiring. It takes a lot of energy and time when I search for unknown words.
Why do I make myself struggle?
To speak Dutch well, I must challenge myself and do things out of my comfort zone. 😨
Later I will reap the benefits of doing something I didn’t enjoy much.

Accepting things beyond our control is the best favor we can do ourselves.
4-5 years ago, I would get disappointed and frustrated if the weather conditions at our holiday destination weren't good.
Now I enjoy every moment of my vacation, regardless of how bad the weather is. It's been raining the whole morning at Zanzibar, and I don't mind.
I can’t change the weather. The only thing I can influence is my feelings and thoughts. I chose to enjoy my time here no matter what. 🌴
Life becomes much easier if we let go of things that don't depend on us. When we are at ease, we can see things differently.

You are responsible for your thoughts and feelings. You can’t change the event that happened or how other people think or behave; you can change how you RESPOND TO IT! 👏
💭 Imagine if your assumption and perception of the situation weren’t always negative.
👉 That interview rejection wouldn’t be an indication of a failure but the feedback that something should be done differently next time.
💭 Imagine if you realized that the intentions of others aren’t always bad.
👉 What if your colleague's criticism of your solution is intended to help you become better at what you do? Maybe that person just doesn't know how to express their thoughts.
Wouldn’t you feel better if you changed your thinking and released yourself from constant tension inside your head?
I bet you would😊

It can be anything, changing your career, relationships, or establishing boundaries with someone.
Before we dive in, let me say that there is nothing wrong with you. It's just how your brain works.
When it comes to novelty, the brain treats it as a Reward or Threat.
Our brain is set to crave clarity and certainty. That's why we continue doing things we are familiar with. So even though you are experiencing negative feelings, you already know how things will end.
When you can't predict the outcome, it is considered a threat. Uncertainty is more painful for our brain than staying in our negative comfort zone.
💭You are afraid that you might fail your new job and lose income, your new relationships might be even worse, or that setting your boundaries might mean losing a friend.
But do you want to change the way you think and improve your life? Practice this 👇
➡️ Find a few options on how to change the situation. When you have choices, you feel in control.
➡️ Manage your expectations, allow yourself to feel uncomfortable for some time.
➡️ Reassess the situation and find something positive about your new challenge. It should sound like a reward to your brain, not a risk.
The good news is that everyone can change their brain by teaching it to think differently. So you can do it too!

It is important to be here and now and not get stuck in the past.
Dwelling on the past won't let you open your mind and notice new possibilities available to you.
This new reality could be temporary.
Use this time to try something new, gain valuable experience, meet new people, and even rediscover yourself.
It might be hard at first, yet rewarding in the end!

You need to test your idea in the real world. 👇

🔥 Build a prototype and then test it.
A prototype can be running a workshop or creating a simple product.
🔥 Test it a few times.
Show or give it for free to different people. Collect their feedback. Observe your feelings.

Why are we so worried about others' opinions that we give up on our dreams? 🙈

📍Because it means taking some risks and maybe not succeeding. So what will people think about you?
📍Maybe it means changing your fancy job title to something unpopular and unapproved by society. So what will others think about that?
📍Or perhaps, being different doesn’t match your friends or family definition of success? What if they are disappointed by your choice?
🤔But why does it even matter if their opinions won’t make you fulfilled and happy?
📌Being different doesn’t mean being good or bad.
📌Going after your values and interests doesn't mean betraying someone.
👉What will your life look like if you are leaving for the sake of pleasing others?
👉I would feel like I was pretending to be someone else and regret not living my maybe simple, strange, unpopular, but meaningful life.

💡 Everything is figurable; I can find a solution to any problem I will face.
💡One mistake doesn't mean I am a failure; instead, I should look at it as my learning point, the way to increase confidence and competence.
