When you do the work that aligns with your unique self:
โ You build something that actually feels like yours.
โ You create from a place of confidence vs. insecurity.
โ You get far better results.

โ You trust and love yourself more.
Ultimately, we ALL benefit from living in a world where people have the courage to take up space, discover and embrace their authentic selves.

And the fears in my head were:
โ Will people think Iโm just an โold curmudgeonโ who does not embrace tech?
โ Will people think Iโm against AI altogether?
โ Will people think Iโm being too judgmental, or too uptight/too serious?
โ Will people who are not wealthy think Iโm being elitist by calling this cheap?
I often joke that Iโm a โprofessional overthinkerโ but we all do this to some extent. Itโs a very human thing to do!
Humans have always depended on belonging to survive. So of course we worry about what others think and we try to avoid social rejection.
Sometimes we fear saying something that might harm our professional relationships.
In fact, one of my clients mentioned that exact fear to me recently. And I told them 2 things:
โ There is a delicate way to express your opinion, in a way that has nuance. In a way that takes into account multiple perspectives rather than being too negative, bombastic or โblack and whiteโ.
โ You are a veteran of your field. So you've earned the right to comment on things going on in your niche and industry.

Polina from Polina Nasedkina Photography said something yesterday about AI-generated headshot photos that really stuck with me.
They trigger a specific perception.
CHEAP.
They look cheap, don't they?

I have to say, that's exactly it.
When I see good people (amazing people that I respect so much!) using these AI-generated headshot photos, it pains me.
Because of how it erodes trust and brand perception. In an instant. In the 10 seconds it takes to generate it.
My advice is this... if professional brand photography is not in your budget right now, take a selfie instead.
Polina gave us a few pro tips here. And reminded us that perfection is boring, and AI strips out your personality.
Technology is not the enemy here, and never has been. But let's think critically about how we use it.
As a hobby photographer, I'm loving the AI editing features in Lightroom. But when it comes to using an AI headshot, that's a NO for me.

Met someone at a party recently. Eventually he asked what I do. And get this... When I explained that I help coaches, he said:
He's been actively looking for one.
I asked "What kind of coach?"
And his answer was simple (and sensible).
Not a price point. Not a package or a number of sessions. Not a list of credentials.
Just this:
"I'm looking for someone who says they help with this particular problem I'm having at work right now."
And this is a GREAT reminder!
People aren't shopping for coaches. ๐ป๐๐๐'๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐.
So your messaging needs to speak directly to the problem your ideal client is losing sleep over.
A lot goes into crafting a strong business and brand. But never forget this core truth:
๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐ฑ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐๐ข๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐ฌ.
And your messaging needs to reflect that, in a clear, simple, and down-to-earth way.
Otherwise you risk immediately disqualifying yourself, and the prospect moves on to another coach.
In messaging:
๐ CLEAR is better than clever.
๐ SPECIFIC is better than vague.

Your offers and pricing are not just strategic decisions. They are deeply personal ones.
Your business model should support your unique goals, self, and situation.
It should reflect:
โข who you are
โข your ideal week
โข your season of life
โข your stage of business
It should align with:
โข your financial goals
โข how you get great results
โข your natural skills + strengths
โข what gives you energy + fulfillment
It should support any special circumstances shaping your life right now. Things like:
โข caregiving responsibilities
โข recovering from burnout
โข organizing a big move
โข planning a wedding
โข having a baby
So there is no "right" business model or "correct" mix of offers.
