Today is going to be a warm and sunny day! So what better way after a bit of cycling to hide in the shade of a tree. ��

Did you know that in Vondelpark there is a tree, planted in 1970, which grows sideways. The official name is ‘Aesculus hippocastanum; Baumannii’ but the locals rather call it the ‘Playtree’.

If you want to find it, it is on the south side of the park, next to the Koningsvijver.

The Summer holiday has started, also for the schoolchildren in Amsterdam. For some children, learning to ride a bike does not come naturally.

We at MacBike supply children's bikes to the organisation 'Verkeersplein Amsterdam". Verkeersplein Amsterdam offers cycling lessons for group 3 and 4 pupils who cannot yet cycle.

This way children get sufficient cycling experience which is important to move safely through traffic as a fully-fledged traffic participant.

The Royal Palace on Dam Square, right in the centre of Amsterdam, is an impressive building in the middle of the capital. Originally built as a town hall in the 17th century, this building now serves as one of the three palaces used by the Dutch royal family. With its classical architecture, rich history and grand interiors, it is a must-visit destination for locals and tourists.

Did you know Amsterdam Central Station, finished in 1889, was designed by the same architect as Rijksmuseum, Pierre Cuypers. The station is actually built as an island on a total of 8.687 poles!

For the past years the Station has been under renovation, and actually still is. But standing in front you can still admire the beauty.

Why not cycle from Amsterdam Central Station, to Rijksmuseum, and check out the resemblance!

(Note, in front of Central station you are only allowed to walk, and if you want to park your bike, make sure you park it in a legal spot!)
