I left a top 0.5% banking career to build gyms!

To most people that looked like a downgrade. It wasn’t. It was the moment two worlds I’d kept separate, capital and wellness! became one job.

I was credit trained at a bank of 6,000 people, in the top half percent, promoted every year. Then I spent 13 years building and operating training facilities across Egypt, Dubai, and Saudi.

Today I advise developers and operators on wellness and recovery facilities. What makes that work isn’t the coaching years alone. It’s that I can read a P&L and a training floor with the same fluency.

Most people in this space do one or the other. The value is in the overlap.

I’ll be writing here about that overlap, where wellness meets real estate, hospitality, and the numbers that decide whether a facility becomes an asset or just an amenity.

If you build spaces where people are meant to move, recover, and perform, this will be worth your time.

One thing I’ve noticed across many industries is how much energy gets spent trying to prove who’s first, who’s original, who’s the leader, or who’s copying whom.

The market doesn’t need more gatekeepers. Most great ideas aren’t new. They’re simply executed better, adapted better, and delivered with more consistency.

Competition isn’t something to fear. It’s what educates the customer, raises the standard, and pushes all of us to improve.

Know what others are doing. Learn from them. Then get back to building your own lane.

In the end, the market decides. And the best value always wins.

A rare appearance in a suit
Always a good excuse when it’s a wedding. 🤵🏻

من حوالي ٦ سنين، عملت أول TED talk ليا.
كنت لسه صغير ومليان حماس… بس لو بصيت دلوقتي، هلاقي إن الكلام كله كان عن نفسي وعن اللي حققته.

النهاردة كان مختلف.

اتعزمت أعمل محاضرة في الأكاديمية البحرية عن إزاي تحافظ على العميل بتاعك، وإزاي تكبّر شغلك من غير ما تستلف من بنك ولا مستثمر — وده بفضل الله اللي حصل في TFG على مدار ١٣ سنة.

لأول مرة حسّيت إني داخل القاعة عشان أدّي، مش عشان أتكلم. لأول مرة أستخدم أكتر من ٧ سنين خبرة في المجال المالي، وفوقيها ١٦ سنة وأنا ببني البيزنس — وأطلّع منهم حاجة حقيقية تنفع اللي قدامي. وشُفت ده في عينيهم وهمّا بيسمعوا، الحمد لله.

بس اللي وقفني…

بالصدفه كان فيه واحد من الحاضرين، من كبار المستثمرين، وعنده واحدة من أكبر شركات الاستثمار. الراجل ده أنا رحتله من ٦ سنين أطلب نصيحة. قعدت قدامه وقلتله بالحرف: “مش عارف هأجيب منين مرتبات الموظفين الشهر الجاي.”

النهاردة هو قاعد في القاعة… وأنا واقف بتكلم عن المشروع الجديد اللي بببنيه، اللي هينزل آخر السنة، واللي إن شاء الله هيكون من أكبر المشاريع في المنطقة في السنين الجاية.

وأنا واقف، حسّيت إن ربنا أكرمني بحاجات عمري ما حلمت بيها. ومبسوط إني قدرت أرجّع ولو حاجة بسيطة لـ ٥٠ شركة ناشئة كانوا في الأوضة دي.

وبحمد ربنا، ودايمًا بفكّر نفسي وبفكّركم: السعي علينا، والنتيجة على ربنا سبحانه وتعالى.

﴿وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَانِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ ۝ وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ﴾
