Heads of Delegation meeting

4 volle dagen om - ter voorbereiding op de Winter Universiade 2027 - ons te laten overtuigen dat de locale organisatie alles op tijd op en in orde heeft.
IJsbanen (zonder ijs) voor het langebaan schaatsen, kunstrijden, curling, ijshockey en shorttrack - hellingen (zonder sneeuw) voor het alpine skiën, snowboarden, ski mountaineering, ski cross en para skiën - een licht glooiend (ook nu nog sneeuwvrij) park voor cross country running - daarnaast check van de hotelaccommodaties, transport, medische voorzieningen, dopingcontrole, accreditatie, eten en drinken, hygiëne, veiligheid etc etc

Gelukkig ook tijd om met collega’s van gedachte te wisselen, samen te eten en een klein biertje te doen..

European University Judo Mixed Team Champions! 🤩🥇🇳🇱

Yesterday, the EUSA Combat Championships concluded with the judo mixed team event. Two Dutch university teams participated:

📍 Team Groningen (University of Groningen & Hanze )
📍 Team Nijmegen (Radboud University & HAN University of Applied Sciences | Studentenleven )

With great team spirit, Team Groningen won all their matches and became European University Champions! 🥇 A fantastic achievement in a competitive field.

Team Nijmegen also fought hard in closely contested matches and finished in 7th place. 💪

From the 17th til the 22nd will the WUC Beach Sports🏖🏐 take place in warm Portugal🇵🇹

Tom Sonneville & Quinten Groenewold will battle on the beach for beach volleyball medals in the mens tournament. Erik Nijland will coach them to victory🏆💪🏼

Trijntje Veerbeek & Tess Spaansen will make us proud in the women's tournament with coaching from Andreas Savvidis🤩🔥

Two medals on the first day of the European University Combat Championships! 🥇🥈

Yesterday marked the first competition day of taekwondo in Tirana 🇦🇱

Rebekka Hartok (Radboud University ) took first place in the women’s freestyle poomsae tournament with an impressive score of 5833! 🥇

Helene Jia Xin Hu (TU Eindhoven ) won four matches on her way to a well-deserved silver medal in the recognized pomsae category! 🥈

What a start to the championships! 💪🇳🇱

After the World University Championships Rowing, it is now time for the European Championships! 🇪🇺

Following yesterday’s General Technical Meeting, the first boats of the Dutch delegation will take to the water today in Zagreb.

Results | European Universities Games 2026 🇮🇹

With yesterday’s closing ceremony, an unforgettable edition of the European Universities Games has come to an end.

Several Dutch teams finished in the top 8 🇳🇱 👏
• 5th – Women’s Singles Badminton: Nasim Safaei TU Eindhoven
• 6th – Men’s Futsal TU Eindhoven
• 8th – Women’s Beach Volleyball TU Delft
• 8th – Men’s Football University of Groningen

A special congratulations to the Women’s Basketball team Maastricht University , who received the Fair Play Award for their outstanding sportsmanship. 🏆

Next year, the European University Championships will take place across Europe, before the European Universities Games return in 2028 in Split, Croatia 🇭🇷.
