Dato’ Dr. Henry Ooi was a distinguished medical practitioner, respected community leader, and one of the most influential figures in the international dance world. As President of the Asian Dance Council, President of the Malaysian Ballroom Dancing Association, and a long-standing Vice-President and Director of the World Dance Council, he dedicated his life to the growth and development of dance across Asia and beyond.
Through his leadership, vision, and commitment, numerous international championships were brought to Malaysia, creating opportunities for dancers worldwide. He was widely admired for his integrity, generosity, and unwavering support of dancers, teachers, adjudicators, and organizers throughout the global dance community.
Beyond dance, Dato’ Dr. Henry was deeply committed to public service and philanthropy, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him.
To the World Dance Council, he was not only a valued leader but also a trusted friend and passionate advocate for excellence, education, and international cooperation.
On behalf of the World Dance Council, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the worldwide dance community. We honor his remarkable legacy and celebrate a life devoted to service, leadership, and the advancement of our art.
