Team SD Worx – Protime strengthens its ranks with Cedrine kerbaol

“The right environment to develop as a GC rider”

With the signing of the 25-year-old Frenchwoman, the team has secured the reinforcement it was looking for. In the recent Tour de France Femmes, Kerbaol finished sixth in the general classification, a result that made her the best French rider in the home race. “With her climbing ability and, above all, her attacking riding style, she is a rider who fits in perfectly with our team. I am delighted that we have signed her for the next two seasons,” said sporting director Danny Stam.

After 5.5 years with Team SD Worx – Protime, Blanka Vas is embarking on a new chapter

Team SD Worx-Protime has agreed to Blanka Vas’s request to move to another team. The partnership with the Hungarian cyclist will come to an end on 1 October 2026, allowing her to ride for another team from that date onwards.

Following open and constructive discussions, both parties have concluded that the sporting ambitions they had hoped for have not been realised over the past year. The decision has therefore been taken to give Vas the opportunity to start a new chapter in her career.

Vas has been riding for the Dutch WorldTeam since 1 June 2021. She has developed well during that time. Danny Stam, sporting director of Team SD Worx-Protime, says: “From the moment Blanka joined our team, it was clear to everyone that we were bringing a great talent into our squad. Together, we have worked hard to help her reach her best level. In recent years, she has made great strides, with victories in the Tour de France Femmes, Giro Italia Donne, Tour de Suisse Women, the Under-23 World Championships and, amongst other achievements, a fourth-place finish in the Paris 2024 Olympic road race. This season, however, has not delivered the sporting results that both sides had hoped for. Consequently, she has expressed a desire to explore what she can achieve with another team. We understand her position and wish her every success and happiness for the future."

Blanka Vas says: ‘This was not an easy decision, but after a number of discussions, we all felt that this was the right time to take a different path. I would like to thank everyone at Team SD Worx-Protime for their support, professionalism, dedication and friendship over the past 5.5 years. It is now time for a new chapter in my career.’

Lorena Wiebes caps off team effort with sprint victory at the GP Fourmies

Lorena Wiebes won the GP Fourmies for the second time in a row. Team SD Worx-Protime had controlled the race all day. In the final sprint, Wiebes was once again in a class of her own, securing her 20th victory of the season. “This makes me a very proud sports director,” said Gian Polo Mondini, who was able to bring his time at Team SD Worx-Protime to a fitting conclusion.

By now, everyone knows that Lorena Wiebes is a phenomenon. With her victory in the GP Fourmies, the 27-year-old Dutch rider has, for the (!) third year running, reached the milestone of twenty or more wins in a single season. She has achieved this four times in her entire career. “When you’re racing with Lorena Wiebes, your team plan is actually clear straight away. You have to try to control the race for as long as possible, so that Wiebes can finish it off at the end,” explains sports director Gian Polo Mondini.

“Our riders were impressive today. With 85 kilometres to go, they were already having to chase down the breakaway. From then on, they took control and never relinquished it. Lisa van Belle, Marie Schreiber, Julia Kopecky, Femke Markus & Femke Gerritse took turns doing the work. When we reached the local circuit, everyone started attacking in an attempt to cause us problems. But we remained in control. Lorena also had to respond to a few attacks now and then. I kept pushing the riders over the radio, and it makes me proud that Lisa van Belle was still battling in the leading group with just three kilometres to go.”

“The only downside today was Marie Schreiber’s crash. Someone went down in front of her and she couldn’t avoid her. She took a knock to her elbow. She kept chasing for another two laps, but when the leading group is going at that pace, it’s virtually an impossible task.”

“Everyone saw Lorena win the sprint, but this was really down to the whole team’s efforts. I’m a satisfied sports director. It makes me proud – and quite emotional – to be able to round off my time at Team SD Worx-Protime with such a fine victory and such a strong squad,” said Gian Polo Mondini.

Stick together through the good, the bad & sometimes the ugly. Tough conditions for our team in Faun Tour, losing Mischa Bredewold & Mikayla Harvey in a hard crash in stage 1. But the way Carina Schrempf, Elena Cecchini & Nienke Vinke fought back together is what it’s all about. Nienke Vinke could take the best young rider’s jersey home as a result.

“We were left with three as we unfortunately lost Miki & Mies in that nasty crash. But we tried to go full for them the rest of the week. Even tough we were only with three, Carina & Elena perfectly did their job, put me in front on the climb & covered attacks when needed. When we did the climb for the second time today, it was up to me to try to follow as long as I could. I was in a small group, where we battled for 4th place. We saw the first trio ride, but we could not make the connection anymore. Thanks to my 5th place, I could take important time for the youth classification. This white jersey is a beautiful finish of the week & a reward for our work”, says 🅝🅘🅔🅝🅚🅔 🅥🅘🅝🅚🅔 .

Mischa Bredewold fears end to season following crash in the Faun Tour

In the first stage of the Faun Tour, Mischa Bredewold was involved in a crash with two team-mates ten kilometres from the finish. Bredewold managed to finish the stage, but was taken to hospital afterwards for a check-up. There, she was diagnosed with a minor fracture in her pelvis, as well as a wound to her elbow. She underwent successful surgery.

“There were fears that I’d torn a tendon in my elbow, but fortunately it turned out during the operation that this wasn’t the case. I’m trying to take heart from that, because this is a huge disappointment. I fear, therefore, that this most likely means the end of my season, although I remain hopeful of a miraculously quick recovery. This setback is, of course, particularly bitter. Especially as I’d also been selected for the Road World Championships in Montréal, which I was really looking forward to,” said Bredewold.
