Velocity-based strength training Genk Official

📈 Incorporating velocity-based training into training methodology maximises strength, power and speed gains with better control of neuromuscular fatigue, the timing of super-compensation and a more favourable anabolic-catabolic balance (Rodriguez-Rosell 2021, 2020, Pareja-Blanco 2017, Galiano 2020)

📊 Most accurate metrics for VLB training:
✔️ Strength exs. ➡️ Average speed
✔️ Ballistics & plyometrics ➡️ peak power

⤴️ There is a curvilinear relationship between % velocity-loss and performance improvements:
1️⃣ Speed gains are highest at 5% VL
2️⃣ CMJ height increases most with 5-20% VL
3️⃣ Strength gains are highest between 10-30% VL
4️⃣ Strength endurance improves most with 30% VL
5️⃣ Fast-twitch fibre hypertophy is greatest with 20% VL
