To enhance live performances, with customs visuals that run completely in sync with the music and the lyrics, we found a technical trick with CDJ players to broadcast SMPTE simultaneously to the music track. With this trick, and a custom developed version of Resolume, this became a solution to this challenge (as explained by Armin van Buuren) and has become an essential tool of the VJ Workflow.

As this (touring) setup would be used for all kinds of LED screen setups, we need to find quick ways to scale and duplicate visual content without using expensive hardware based scalers. Later on this became the advanced output that everybody knows quite well.

Another year of firsts, 2008 was the first time we created an audio visual DJ Intro played from a GrasValley TurboDrive at a resolution of 720x576 pixels. This first started a trend in the industry, still used to date for many events. Also running visuals at Extrema Outdoor, which would later result in the foundation of TWOFIFTYK. And hosting the night of a well known Swedish trio at Amneisa, Ibiza.

The first trip outside of Europe was to Kuala Lumpur, VJ-ing for Global Gathering and hosting a VJ-class among international street artists.

And this was 2006, going into multiple Awakenings shows and working for ID&T’s famous Innercity

For 2005, we challenged ourselves to create a stronger connection between the live music and the control of visuals by creating a ableton based midi sync. With midi sequences, we could sync resolume clips and effects to the beat of the music. Later on, Resolume implemented this into the software as BPM Sync.

2004 was the year of one of our first international VJ gigs. For the underground house act FLORiS, we travelled with the whole team by car to Roskilde in Denmark. Nowadays Floris is best known as one of the founders of

Founded TWENTY YEARS ago in 2003 by Judith, Kevin, Marijn, Martijn and Pieter.

The first ever VJ Gig took place at the rowing association Proteus in Delft, running at 320 x 240 pixels, this party gave us that last bit of budget needed to buy our own Video Mixer. Initially, the goal was to create custom software to play, edit and mix the 2D & flash animated visuals live, but once bumping into , that seemed to fit the job perfectly.
