CONTEMPORARY DANCE MIX =
Contemporary is an umbrella term for all forms of dance that have a basis in ballet, but have developed throughout time. In this class we combine elements from modern, jazz and ballet into a class full of big flowing movement with a strong basis in technique. We play with classical elements such as pliés, tendus, grand jetés and pirouettes, and combine them with drops, curves, waves, isolations and freezes. We will (re)search the flow and connections in and between our motions. We will take more time to ground in the warm-up and bring our attention to our whole body. During class we focus on musicality and how movement quality is connected to this. The last part of the class consists of learning a choreography.
DANCE IMPROVISATION =
This style of dance has no set steps, particular form or style. It stimulates the creativity and authentic movement of dancers of any style or background. We work with techniques that are applicable to any dance style and leave a lot of freedom to explore your own capacity and self-expression. We focus on the process of creation through the means of dance, movement and self-expression. As a dancer you get the opportunity to diversify your dance technique and refine your sense of performance. In the classes we will touch on different topics such as the body in space, articulation, use of the floor, partnering and creating drama.
