🔥 De Salzkammergut Trophy is niet zomaar een MTB-marathon. Dit is A Ride to Hell and Back.

Om 5 uur ’s morgens vertrek je voor een tocht die je steeds dieper de Oostenrijkse bergen in trekt.

Tunnels. Steile beklimmingen. Technische afdalingen. Adembenemende bergmeren. En telkens wanneer je denkt dat het zwaarste achter de rug is, wacht de volgende klim.

De legendarische A-afstand telt 210 kilometer en ruim 7.000 hoogtemeters. Van de 540 starters bereikten er dit jaar slechts 408 de finish.

Daar wacht de duivel je op. En na zo’n dag voelt dat eigenlijk verrassend toepasselijk.

Federspiel came within 50 metres on the Timmelsjoch. Meyer had to fight harder than ever after an earlier crash. But neither favourite cracked.

🔥 Burke én Meyer maakten van de Ötztaler Radmarathon 2026 een editie om nooit te vergeten.

227 kilometer en 5.500 hoogtemeters, met het Timmelsjoch als scherprechter.

Jack Burke zag Federspiel tot op zo’n 50 meter naderen, maar brak niet en verpulverde het parcoursrecord. Janine Meyer moest na een valpartij verschrikkelijk diep gaan, maar pakte haar vierde zege op rij én verbeterde opnieuw haar eigen record.

En alsof twee recordritten nog niet genoeg waren, zorgde Burke na de finish voor een prachtig slotstuk. 💍

🔥 Vijf Nederlandse WK-medailles en twee regenboogtruien: Niseko werd een Nederlands wielerfeest.

Johnny Hoogerland deed het opnieuw en kroonde zich tot wereldkampioen, terwijl ook Nicolien Luijsterburg de regenboogtrui veroverde.

En voor CycloWorld werd het nóg mooier. Ambassadeur Rick Groeneweg pakte zilver, Mimi ter Beek en Frank Nijssen brons en Pieter Frolichs reed naar een knappe zevende plaats.

Vijf podiumplaatsen aan de andere kant van de wereld. Maar sommige finishes maakten het verschil met slechts één seconde.
