Favourite Photos Explained #3 🏹

Sometimes the simplest compositions say enough. Two archers, fully drawn, stand against the open landscape in natural symmetry.

The wide frame leaves plenty of space for the landscape, which is exactly what makes field archery so special: the sport is never separate from its environment. The surrounding nature becomes part of the image.

Favourite Photos Explained #2 🏹

This image is built around the centre of the frame. The target face and archers recording their scores form the focal point, capturing a quiet moment between shots in field archery.

The leaves around the edges act as a natural frame, drawing the eye inward and giving the composition depth. There is also a clear separation between the brighter foliage, the archers, and the ground, which helps each layer stand out while preserving the atmosphere of the course.

Favourite Photos Explained #1 🏹

This image was taken during a field archery session. I like it because the composition feels intentional: the archer sits on a rule-of-thirds point, creating a clear focal point while leaving negative space in the direction of the shot.

The contrast of the tower on the sky draws your attention, while it creates a sort of asymmetric composition. For me, it captures both the technical focus and the atmosphere of field archery.
