Inspired by the concept of flat packing and home assembly, we were driven to develop a new bicycle concept: the Sandwichbike, a bike made out of two wooden plates! The contemporary design, the large surface of the frame and the absence of welding joints makes the frame visually attractive and easy to assemble. The bike will be delivered in a flat cardboard box and can be assembled at home with a f

ew basic tools. With the excellent driving dynamics, the Sandwichbike is a unique and highly sophisticated product.

De duurzaam geproduceerde beukenhout panelen worden met special ontworpen cups en zwarte RVS bouten aan de aluminium cilinders gemonteerd. Dit levert een oersterk frame op. Dit frame is de basis voor de verschillende Sandwichbike uitvoeringen. Je kan kiezen voor verschillende framehoogtes. Ook is er de keuze voor een versie met een stalen voorvork met verstelbaar stuur als ook een versie met een voorvork van beukenhout.

This results in an extremely strong frame. This frame forms the basis for the various Sandwichbike models. You can choose from different frame heights. There is also a choice between a version with a steel front fork with adjustable handlebars and a version with a beech wood front fork.

In plaats van een gelast frame is de Sandwichbike een fiets die is ontworpen als een ‘sandwich’ van twee multiplex frames van gelaagd en duurzaam beukenhout. De frames en onderdelen worden met elkaar verbonden door aluminium cilinders en speciaal ontworpen cups, waardoor een zeer sterk en stijlvol frame ontstaat.

Instead of a welded frame, the Sandwichbike is a bike engineered as a ‘sandwich’ of two plywood frames of layered and durable beechwood. Bonded together by the aluminium cylinders, specially designed cups, the frames and components become a frame that is very strong and stylish.

De frameonderdelen van Sandwichbikes zijn gemaakt van duurzaam geproduceerd beukenhout. Beukenbomen leveren splintervrij, slagvast hardhout met een hoge trek-, druk- en buigsterkte. Het beukenfineer is duurzaam en robuust en wordt gelijmd en geperst tot een Sandwichbike-framepaneel. De geperste panelen worden met CNC-gestuurde zagen tot Sandwichbike-onderdelen gezaagd. Als finishing touch worden de houten panelen behandeld met een ademende en UV-bestendige vernis, zodat de Sandwichbike bestand is tegen alle weersomstandigheden.
The Sandwichbikes frame parts are made of sustainable cultivated beechwood. Beech trees provide splinter-free, impact-resistant hardwood with high tensile, compressive, bending strength. The beech veneer is durable and robust and are glued and pressed to a Sandwichbike frame panel. The pressed panels are cut into the Sandwichbikes parts by CNC-controlled saws. As the finishing touch, the wooden panels are treated with a varnish that is breathable and UV-resistant so that the Sandwichbike is all weather proof.
