How much work does it take to transform a superyacht for a new purpose? According to Alewijnse Project Manager Diederick van Welij, modern refits are becoming increasingly complex as owners demand new layouts, advanced connectivity and the latest onboard technologies.

In SuperYacht Technology, he discusses the extensive refit of Draak, the 93-metre companion yacht to the 111-metre Leviathan, both built by Oceanco

To support the modernisation of Draak's facilities and technology, Van Welij and his team renewed key electrical, automation and digital systems throughout the vessel, while installing more than 58 kilometres of electrical cabling.

On August 27 and 28, Alewijnse premises became a space for learning and curiosity about something that matters: digital safety for children and teenagers.
The workshop was led by an IT specialist who managed to connect naturally with the children, making this hot topic engaging, accessible and fun.

From student to innovator in the maritime energy transition ⚡

Meet Petar Vuckovic, a Power Electronics student at the University of Twente who is helping Alewijnse develop innovative technology for the maritime sector.
Through his master's research, Petar is working on a unique Hardware-in-the-Loop solution that makes it possible to test energy management systems faster, safer, and more efficiently. His work contributes directly to reducing energy consumption and technical risks onboard vessels.

From Montenegro to the Netherlands, Petar's journey shows how passion for technology and sustainability can lead to exciting opportunities.
