Connecting Silat Melayu Across Borders 🇲🇾🇩🇪🇳🇱
Last weekend, PSMN had the great honor of being invited to participate in a major Martial Arts Festival in Steinen, Germany.
For us, this was much more than a martial arts event. It was an opportunity to connect, exchange knowledge, and strengthen international cooperation around the heritage and practice of Silat Melayu.
As Chairman of PSMN, I was honored to exchange ideas with the UCSI Malaysia team. Senior Professor Richard Bailey, Dr. Nadia Samsudin, and Dr. Pam brought the Malaysian perspective and expertise to Germany.
Our Quality Manager, Robert Brandt, who is also a Visiting Fellow at UCSI Malaysia, further strengthens the connection between our organizations.
Together with Professor Bailey, we presented three styles within Silat Melayu and had two opportunities during the day to invite participants into the world of Silat Melayu.
We shared Bunga and Buah, but equally important, we spoke about Adat and Adab within the Gelanggang — the traditions, etiquette, respect, discipline, and values that give Silat its deeper meaning.
It was inspiring to see how martial arts can create bridges between cultures, countries, and people.
A beautiful experience of knowledge sharing, cultural exchange, friendship, and international cooperation.
Our sincere thanks to the organizers of the Martial Arts Festival in Steinen for the invitation and hospitality. And a special thank you to our colleagues and friends from Malaysia for making this experience even more meaningful.
Silat Melayu is not only something we practice — it is something we preserve, share, and pass on.
