2 more days to go at Dutch Design Week | DDW 🧡 Thank you to everyone who has visited us so far.

Kunstsilo kulen began as a hands-on, modular DIY system for the opening of the Kunstsilo museum in Norway. Since then, cultural institutions and events around the world have recreated it, including Casula Powerhouse (Australia), THEMUSEUM (Canada), Zuidparktheater and Betovering Festival (Netherlands), and ARoS Aarhus Art Museum (Denmark).
What stays with me each time is that visitors don’t just look, they build.

It also feels like a full circle to show it here. The materials come from our long-standing partner Labro Verpakkingen Eindhoven Kortom Karton, with raw material from Smurfit Westrock Kappa, which we can see from our window in the exhibition space. Local material, local making, local partners.

Look up. 👀

This is Kunstsilo - kulen from the inside: a stack of metallic cardboard modules in an autumnal palette, glowing against the concrete above.

Kunstsilo-kulen is a hands-on, modular DIY system we developed for the newly opened Kunstsilo museum. It has since been recreated by cultural institutions and events worldwide, including Casula Powerhouse (Australia), THEMUSEUM (Canada), Zuidparktheater and Betovering Festival (Netherlands), and ARoS Aarhus Art Museum (Denmark).

Why it works for audiences: visitors don’t just look, they build. The system is easy to assemble, scales to any space, and turns a visit into a shared experience.

Materials by our long-standing partner Labro Verpakkingen Eindhoven BV Kortom Karton, with raw material from Smurfit Westrock , whom we can see from our window in the exhibition space.

One detail we love: from our window, we look straight into Smurfit Westrock , where the raw material is made. Right next door, our long-standing partner Labro Verpakkingen Eindhoven Kortom Karton custom-made the materials for this installation in a rich autumnal metallic palette. The installation was originally designed for the opening of the Kunstsilo museum. Since then it has been recreated for cultural institutions around the world, including Casula Powerhouse (NSW), THEMUSEUM (Ontario), and ARoS Aarhus Art Museum. Seeing it come back to Eindhoven, close to where the material originates, feels like a full circle moment.

From Kunstsilo with Love is an interactive installation that invites visitors to become part of the creative process. Over the nine days of the festival, the audience will co-create and shape the installation, making each interaction part of its evolving story.

We’re grateful to our long-standing partner, Labro Verpakkingen Eindhoven Kortom Karton in Eindhoven, who custom-made the materials in a beautiful autumnal colour palette for this edition.

Originally created for the opening of the Kunstsilo museum, the installation has since been presented at cultural institutions around the world, including Casula Powerhouse (NSW), THEMUSEUM (Ontario), Zuidparktheater in collaboration with MuseumLAB by Museon-Omniversum, Zuidwest and Festival De Betovering, ARoS Aarhus Art Museum.

Looking back at Dutch Design Week | DDW 2024 and looking ahead to DDW 2026, starting October 17!

From Kunstsilo with Love is an interactive installation that will be co-created by visitors over the nine days of Dutch Design Week, inviting participation, exchange, and new perspectives through a shared creative experience.

The materials have been custom-made by our long-standing partner, Labro Verpakkingen BV Kortom Karton in Eindhoven, in a warm autumnal colour palette.

Originally created for the opening of the Kunstsilo museum, the installation has since been recreated for cultural institutions internationally, including Casula Powerhouse (NSW), THEMUSEUM (Ontario), Zuidparktheater in collaboration with MuseumLAB by Museon-Omniversum, Zuidwest and Festival De Betovering, and ARoS Aarhus Art Museum. Last year, it was also exhibited at the Anchorage Museum.

It was a pleasure collaborating with the wonderful team at the Musée national d’histoire naturelle Luxembourg - natur musée on an interactive presentation in the Future Living Room, the final room of the exhibition celebrating 30 years of the Natural History Museum in the Grund!

The HEART-board pyramid will be open for visitors to explore and interact with tomorrow during Museum Night! And if you can’t make it tomorrow, you’ll have until mid-March 2027 to experience it.

Wishing the dedicated team many more years of research, remarkable collections, exciting discoveries, and inspiring stories!

Setting up a NEW HEART-board Pyramid today at the Musée national dhistoire naturelle Luxembourg – Naturmusée!

The photo below was taken earlier this year at the opening of World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026, where the same modular cardboard system was used to create part of a temporary exhibition — with a completely different graphic treatment.

It’s always exciting to see how the same modular design can take on a new character in a different museum setting, while supporting hands-on learning, participation and family engagement. Looking forward to seeing the results of this week’s build in Luxembourg!

This week, we’ll be setting up a new project as part of an exhibition at the natur musée Musée national d’histoire naturelle Luxembourg

This is our first collaboration with a natural history museum, and I’m very excited about it.

For this project, and in collaboration with the exhibition curator, we recreated the HEART-board Pyramid with a new graphic concept, using the museum’s four visual identity colours along the edges of the polyhedra to highlight the points where the building blocks connect with one another.

I’m curious to see whether and how this shift in visual language will influence the way visitors approach, interact with and experience the design within the exhibition.
