Due to Corona, the weather window for Hoek tot Helder is temporarily closed. Kite Team Van Oord is this year not participating in this event, but wishes the organization and participants all the best and hopefully the event can still take place somewhere later this year. We hebben het gister natuurlijk allemaal gezien en anders wel gelezen. Het kabinet heeft gisteravond een aantal nieuwe regels en maatregelen bekend gemaakt ter voorkoming van verdere verspreiding van het Corona virus.

Aangezien Hoek tot Helder een zogenaamde doorstroomactiviteit is zou je denken dat Hoek tot Helder een uitzondering is op de regels. Dit is ook zo, maar de volgende berekening zal misschien wat opheldering geven: De geplande start is tussen 7.00 en 8.30, dit betekend dat er in 90 minuten max. 450 deelnemers moeten starten. Dit is ± 5 deelnemers per minuut en gaat ervoor zorgen dat de spreiding van het deelnemersveld zo optimaal mogelijk geregeld is. Echter, met een maximale groepsgrote van 40 personen (buiten) kunnen we niet voldoende uit de voeten. Dan zou iedere deelnemer maximaal 8 minuten kunnen pauzeren en dan hebben we nog niet eens de crew meegerekend.

Daarom is het windraam per vandaag en voor een periode van in elk geval drie weken gesloten. Over drie weken wachten we de evaluatie van het kabinet af om te bepalen wat we met de laatste twee weken in ons windraam kunnen doen. Ons windraam loopt in principe tot 8 november. Mocht HTH omwille van Corona of het uitblijven van wind dit jaar niet door kunnen gaan dan openen we in 2021 een nieuw windraam.
