🫶 This month, Clingendael said a heartfelt goodbye to Monika Sie after ten years of leadership.
"It makes me proud and happy to see how, together with around 120 colleagues, we've made the Clingendael ship seaworthy," she reflected.

Bob Deen is per 1 juli 2026 de nieuwe algemeen directeur van Instituut Clingendael. Hij heeft die positie overgenomen van Monika Sie Dhian Ho, die op 30 juni afscheid nam en Clingendael sinds 2016 leidde. Bob werkt sinds 2020 bij Clingendael als expert en onderzoeker op het gebied van veiligheid, defensie, Rusland en Oost-Europa.
‘’Ik vind het geweldig en tegelijkertijd ook een grote verantwoordelijkheid om het leiderschap van Clingendael in deze turbulente tijden over te nemen van Monika. Er is veel te doen en ik heb er zin in’’, vertelt hij op zijn eerste werkdag als directeur.
De missie van Clingendael is volgens hem relevanter dan ooit, met wereldwijd geopolitieke spanningen, oorlogen en onzekerheid. ‘’Die leiden ertoe dat er binnen de samenleving, de overheid en het bedrijfsleven veel vraag is naar onze onafhankelijke analyses, advies en trainingen. Daar willen we aan blijven voldoen.’’
