Heavy-duty vehicles operate under tough conditions, often for long hours and at high loads. That makes efficiency and durability especially important. For combustion and hybrid powertrains, reducing friction remains a valuable engineering opportunity.

Piston rings are one area where surface engineering can make a measurable difference. Hauzer’s hydrogen-free a-C coating reduces friction loss by around 20%. It also offers very low wear and strong scuff resistance.

Production efficiency matters too. The optimized Hauzer Flexicoat® 1000 increases load capacity by around 57%. Cycle times for a-C coatings can decrease by 36%. This helps manufacturers combine coating performance with productivity and cost control.
