Looking for something sweet this weekend?

In Norway, there’s a little tradition of saving the sweets for lørdag — Saturday. After a week of work, school and getting outside, the weekend is when something sweet feels especially well deserved.

Chef Simo may come from Italy, but after making his home here in Alta, Northern Norway, he’s getting pretty good at the Norwegian weekend traditions. 😉

This little creation brings together white chocolate, coconut milk, coconut oil and cloudberries — one of the Arctic’s favourite berries, picked from the wild landscapes of the north. 🧡

A little Italian creativity. A taste of Northern Norway. And a good excuse for something sweet this weekend.

Alta is dressed for autumn. 🍂

Gold, orange and red have taken over the forests, with just a few touches of green still hanging on. It’s one of those short, beautiful seasons in Alta, Northern Norway that makes you want to slow down and enjoy it while it lasts.

It’s also a lovely time of year to settle into our Aurora Canvas Domes. Tucked into the pine forest, with the wood fire burning and the chance of the Northern Lights appearing above, autumn nights here feel pretty special. ✨🔥

Add a seasonal dinner from Chef Simo, good company and a quiet night surrounded by Arctic nature.

Autumn doesn’t last long up here. We’re making the most of it.

Sometimes you just need to get on a bike and see where the trail takes you. 🚵

🍂 Behind the scenes at GLØD.

Not every adventure starts with a booking.

Sometimes it’s simply a weekend outside — boots on, Petter along for the walk, and the mountains around Alta turning golden.

Autumn in Alta, Northern Norway is short, colourful and hard to spend indoors. And with moose hunting season here, there’s always a good reason to get out into the terrain and prepare for the days ahead.

For us, this is more than where we work. It’s how we live.

Ut på tur. 🍂

In Norway, sometimes you don’t need much more of a reason than that — get outside and go for a walk.

And right now, Alta, Northern Norway is a pretty good place to do it. Golden autumn colours, crisp air, quiet trails and a husky happy to lead the way.

Our guided husky hikes in Alta are a simple way to spend a few hours outside, explore the landscape with a local guide and get to know one of our four-legged team members along the way.

🍂 And just like that, Alta turned golden.

It doesn’t take long for the seasons to change up here. One week everything is green, and suddenly the trails, riverbanks and mountains are glowing with autumn colours.

Our latest group arrived in time to enjoy it — mountain biking through the forest, canoeing on the Alta River, hiking with our huskies and spending plenty of time outside together.

And, of course, there’s always time for bålkaffe — coffee by the fire, a little break outside and one of those simple Norwegian traditions we never get tired of. ☕🔥

That’s one of the things we love about høst in Alta, Northern Norway. The air gets a little crisper, the colours a little warmer, and the adventures keep going.

This summer, we caught every moment of sun on the Alta River by canoe — calm water, good company and one of those beautiful Northern Norway days you simply want to make the most of.

There’s something special about seeing Alta from the water. The pace slows down, the river gets quiet, and there’s time to simply paddle, look around and enjoy being outside together.

Our guided canoe trips take you along peaceful stretches of the Alta River, surrounded by forest, mountains and Arctic nature. No rush. Just time on the river and a different way to experience Alta, Northern Norway.

And summer isn’t the end of canoe season. 🍂 As the days get cooler and the colours begin to change, we keep paddling into autumn — warm layers, crisp air and a whole new side of the river.

Sunshine or autumn colours, we’ll take any excuse to get out on the water.

Northern Lights season has officially started in Alta 💜🩵💚

The Northern Lights are back — and there’s something special about these first autumn nights under the Arctic sky.

September in Alta, Northern Norway gives you the best of two seasons. Spend the day exploring outdoors, then head out in search of the Aurora Borealis as darkness falls.
