Today I want to share a little bit of my enthusiasm – and perhaps even my slight obsession – with my Polar watch. 😂
I’ve had it for about three years, but during the last year I’ve really started exploring what this little gadget can actually do. And honestly, I’m fascinated by how much information it can give me.
I’ve been training my whole life – strength training, cardio, hiking, yoga, dancing… You name it. I’ve always tried to train smart, keep things varied and listen to my body.
But now I also have a tiny computer on my wrist giving me feedback. 😄
Sleep. Heart rate. HRV. Training load. Recovery. Activity levels.
Some mornings it basically says:
“Go for it!”
And other mornings:
“Pille… maybe not today.” 😂
And I’ve learned to listen.
Not because I’m trying to chase numbers or become an elite athlete at 60, but because the data gives me another way to understand my body.
It helps me decide when to push a little harder, when to take it easier and when recovery should actually be part of the training plan.
The technology available to us today is pretty amazing. Not that long ago, this kind of detailed information was mainly available to elite athletes.
Now we can all have it on our wrists.
And as we get older, I think training smarter becomes more important than simply training harder.
The goal isn’t to do more every day.
It’s to stay strong, mobile, healthy and active for many years to come.
So yes, I listen to my Polar.
Most of the time. 😉
Strong body. Good recovery. Joy of movement.
That’s health to me.
