So let's start, How can a disc be herniated? A herniated disc occurs when some of the soft jelly in the center of the disc slips out past the tough exterior. It can be very painful and may cause:

back pain, neck pain, shooting arm pain or tingling and numbness in an arm, tingling or weakness in a leg or foot

As children, the discs are full of water and they are pretty flexible, but as we age they start getting more and more rigid, producing less flexibility between discs, getting narrower and they starts shrinking.

Between all the causes that can produce a herniation of the discs, are: Improper lifting
Excessive body weight, sudden pressure on the discs, repeated strenuous activities, smoking

So, now comes the question, is it OK to lift heavy when you have a disc herniation? The answer is yes! And not only because lifting is a way to improve you strength. But also because it can help you to tight your core, creating a proper structure for your torso which will help you not having back/lowerback pains. To start training while having a herniation I recommed that you take contact with a professional in the field to help you improve your health and your strength.

Do not grow up, it is a trap... Something that I really miss about OCR is the constant playing, goofing around, helping people out on the obstacles. Run, mud, exercising, sweating and struggling. Yes, STRUGGLING. It is important to struggle. Find your obstacle and struggle until you can dominate it, until then push yourself and your limits, but do a favor to yourselves and never ever grow up. Everything you do, spice it up with a childish cheeky smile, little banter, joke...

After listening to podcast with I got really motivated, sorry, even more motivated. He has been the GOAT in the Crossfit world, for 5 years in a row, something that was absolutely "imposible" for some people to think.
A person that is the fittest in the world 5 times. WOW!
He mentions that someone told him - it is imposible to be 3x World champ at Crossfit, there will be someone better. He just got the work done and it paid off. Sometimes we just need to stay focus on the goals and make them happen. Work as hard as we can to see how it is paid off. Give it a try, give yourself a challenge for the next 4-5-6... months, work for it, do not let people say if it is right or wrong, just do it. And see how it is paid off
