Gear I like: wrap liners. I used the original Alpine wraps since 2008 when tail-guiding full-season quickly revealed that stock liners destroy my feet. For years, they would stiffen my Garmont Megalites and Masterlites for steep first descents in the Caucasus and Pamirs and then carry me through ski guiding exams. Today, the new Tour Wraps turns the flimsy Scarpa Aliens 👽 (the only light boot fitting my weird foot) – combined with and forward lean mods – into legit boots for ski guiding. And once you’ve got proper wrap liners, buying used boots becomes a smart move – just drop your own liners in and go ✌️

Last week we ran our first combined Wilderness First Aid + SVELAV PRO 1 course in Åre, Sweden. Early season conditions created some challenges – especially during the PRO1 – but with a cool gang and some improvisation, this turned into one of the most memorable and best courses so far. I thank for running the WFA in style, and for hosting us for a fun, constructive and case study high up on Västerskutan. With a small group, the course could be tailored to participants’ backgrounds and work environments.
The next PRO 1 courses are scheduled at the end of January, with the location TBD - Åre or Hemavan - and at the end of February in Riksgränsen.

The last two weekend, I participated in a Wilderness First Aid course run by in Trondheim. While I could not join all days, it was the first time we collaborated directly and included avalanche-specific scenarios and first-aid…continuing where avy courses usually end. Thanks to for helping setting this one up! We are working hard to develop more combined courses that follow internal first aid and SVELAV avalanche course standards and Avalife protocols. Next up: WFA plus SVELAV Pro 1 Åre/Duved, 13-19 Dec.

A ski touring week at is…
Big terrain right out the door. Steep lines, cruisy descents, short tours with ski-to-door access, big vertical – whatever you want to make it.
Good times with the crew and me, wild stories, and epic images from the Caucasus.
And and and… just come experience it yourself.

Avalanche courses teach you how to manage risk, prevent burial, and perform rescues — but what happens after the rescue? That’s where Wilderness First Aid (WFA) comes in.

I’ve teamed up with to offer WFA training alongside my SVELAV PRO1 and Friåkning 2 avalanche courses.
BUT: We’re also running one stand-alone WFA course in Åre, Sweden, for the same price as in combination with an avy course!

- Dates: 13–15 December
- Location: Ă…re, Sweden
- Price: NOK 4000 pp

Suited also for all who need a first aid course prior to the PRO1.

Mountains I guide (VII): Vássečohkka, Arctic Sweden. The mountain is among the most popular touring peaks around Riksgränsen, for good reason. I like the mountain for its variety of terrain and its hidden bowls, which often hold excellent snow throughout the season. The feeling here is quite different from the Norwegian side, with a fascinating wideness and a real, raw Arctic feeling. Vássečohkka is also an ideal field location for my avalanche courses run out of Riksgränsen. Riksgränsen has grown on me over the years – not just for its terrain, but for its atmosphere, the people, and its history.

Tusheti, Georgia 🇬🇪, 2014.
A wild project with Tusheti Protected Landscape, exploring the potential for sustainable winter tourism in this magical region. The goal was to help locals remain in Tusheti through the winter and reduce seasonal migration to urban areas.
Although the initiative was well-received by the local population, it was ultimately shelved due to yet another shift in local authorities. Nevertheless, it was an extraordinary trip, filled with generous local support, great ideas, and much laughter.

Mkinvartsveri (5054 m) – better known as Mount Kazbek – is Georgia’s third-highest mountain and one of the most iconic peaks in the Caucasus. I’ve been fascinated by this mountain ever since my first trip to Georgia in 2006. Since then, I’ve returned many times to explore its ski routes and surrounding peaks, including several first descents.
Last year, I teamed up with Altihut to offer an 8-day ski touring and ski mountaineering program focused on Mkinvartsveri and the nearby peaks. The mountain itself is a demanding and long ski tour through glaciated terrain – but there’s so much more.
In April 2025, a phenomenal and strong trio (, , and ) joined me to explore even more terrain. Now, our program includes a variety of ski tours and lines, letting us rip fresh tracks on new terrain every day.
This is my only guided program outside Scandinavia – and for good reason. The area is incredible, the hut is amazing, and the Altihut staff are top-notch. As so often, it’s also about the people. I don’t guide where I don’t love to ski myself – and this one is a true highlight.
