Picking the three best images of this season was not easy, but here are my three favourites. 1) Georgia: AltiHut (3014 m) and Mkinvartsveri (Kazbek, 5054 m); 2) Norway: Powder on Arnøya during a combined SVELAV Friåkning 1 avy + WFA first aid course; Sweden: Hemavan, taken during a PRO 1 course. Quick edits from days 3-4 of ski guiding from in the Georgian Caucasus.
My old ski mountaineering playground delivered again. Fresh snow mixed with intense sun, big glaciated terrain, and great turns from over 4000 m on Ortsveri back to the doorstep.

Quick edits from the first two days guiding around the awesome in Georgia in the shadow of great Mkinvartsveri (Kazbek, 5054 m). This area is among my absolute favourites, with many sweet runs accessible right from the doorstep and long high alpine tours to 4000-5000 m.

Redotindan, Kågen island. While Redotindan is always an experience, guiding a family of four (14-50) to the summit in fantastic weather and solitude is a privilege.

Guiding in my old backyard and favourite touring area - Arnøya. A small group with mixed skills (family), but the terrain here has something for everyone. Based this time out of Årviksand, I am discovering a lot of new terrain – amazing after 12 or so years coming here each spring.

A few days ago, I finished the last avalanche course this season, with a strong Finnish-Swedish group on the magic island of Arnøya. 3 days of great skiing and much teaching in the wild instead of the classroom, not least due to the abundance of terrain and great snow. In my books, Arnøya remains my favourite spot for avalanche courses. The course was part of a 6-day combined wilderness first aid + SVELAV Friåkning course, in cooperation with Rescue 3 Norge . The combined courses are a concept we will roll out again next year. Huge thanks once again to Lauksletta Overnatting for hosting and hospitality, as always, and to the crew – hope to see you again next year on Arnøya.

Back on my favourite ski‑touring island, Arnøya. First day of the SVELAV Friåkning 1 (3 days), part of a combined wilderness first aid + avalanche course with R3 NORGE . An absolute banger of a day.
Arnøya delivers every time—so much terrain right with easy access combined with the hospitality + food at Lauksletta Overnatting . Days like today remind me why I keep coming back. Skiing in the sun straight down to the ocean, great terrain, and no one else around.

With a busy schedule of research and teaching at university, avalanche courses, and guiding, I do not get out much privately anymore. Yesterday was an exception, heading to Storsnasen in Snasahögarna (Jämtland, Sweden) with , squeezing the most out of a sunny day on mellow and steep terrain before taking train and bus back to Trondheim.
Storsnasen has become a bit of a favourite of mine, with many sweet lines to ski and easy access from Trondheim. At the same time, the changes in our winters are impossible to ignore here: an unusually thin snowpack, even in places that used to be reliable with snow. While my research on sustainable cities and transport has cut my ski days down a lot, travelling less and contributing more to research and practice feels timely.
