Solo... one athlete,
no support crew required.

Unlike anything else in the world, this unique event offers a stunning
grandstand viewpoint finish taking in views of not just one, not just two,
but THREE 8,000-metre high mountains.
-
Swim in a sub-tropical lake, bike on asphalt roads across a Himalayan landscape, and finish with a run fit for the legends.
Nothing like this on Planet Earth.
-
Half-distance Xtreme Triathlon at its finest, showcasing all of the exciting
elements of the sport and community. Testing strength and endurance
across all 3 disciplines as you journey across the Roof Of The World.

''β€œIt was incredible to see the snow capped mountains appear when swimming in the lake as it got light. Beautiful bike course.''

100 X-POINTS
XTRI World Tour

Experience the uniqueness of swimming in a sub-tropical lake crossing the reflections of an 8,000 metre high mountain Annapurna I and the iconic Mt Fishtail. There is nowhere else in the world you can mix these two elements.

The lake swim is 1.9km in length - 17 to 22 degrees C.

Bike a total of 90 kilometres across the Himalayas of Nepal on asphalt roads. Overall elevation gain of 2,400 metres.

Highest point is 1,740 metres above sea level. Lowest point is 780 metres above sea level.

21 km in distance, with 1,740 metres of overall elevation gain. A mix of flat, some downhill and β€˜Nepali flat’ (Uphill..!). The route is entirely off-road with views to Dhaulagiri (5th highest mountain in the world) on the way up to the finish at 2,000metres above sea level.

One of the things we set out to achieve when starting HimalayanXtri was to work with local Nepali athletes to help them to develop in sport.
-
One very happy sider to HimalayanXtri being a full-distance XTRI World Tour Partner Event is the requirement for each athlete to have a crew support for the race.
-
Most athletes are able to bring support with them to Nepal, but for some teaming up with local Nepali support is the only way they can take part. We help to arrange this. Some athletes even choose to add local support to their teams once they arrive and test the course.
-
Our race organisation is very grateful to all the local Nepali athletes, male and female, who step forward to support international athletes.
-
It has been a joy to see how these new relationships form on race day, and the lasting friendships that grow from pushing through the racing challenge together - athlete and support.
-
This weekend one of our key local support crew members Sachin Gurung gets his chance to shine on an international stage. Not quite triathlon, yet (that day will come!), but he will be representing Nepal for the first time he has ever travelled abroad at the 50km Ultra-Trail Great Wall by UTMB in China.
-
Sachin is from the mountain village of Ghandruk, near HimalayanXtri's race course, and he has been athlete support crew at HimalayanXtri since our first race in 2022. He has supported 2 previous overall winners (Anders Langset 2024 and Nikola Corbova 2025) and a podium (Weimar Gomez in May this year) in that time!
He has also recorded podium finishes at the Annapurna Marathon, starting at 4,100 metres above sea level at the famous Annapurna Base Camp.
-
We are excited to follow him on Saturday 12th and wish him all the very best for a Great (Wall) day out.
-
Thank you to all for making this journey possible.
-
Go Sachin!!!!

As one incredible XTRI World Tour event closes out in Italy, another gears up in Slovakia. The challenging Janosik starts at midnight. Good luck to all participants again, and a very big shout-out to 2 past HimalayanXtri overall winners and Black shirt finishers:

PETR VABROUSEK - Overall Winner 2023 (4,000m Black Shirt Finisher)
[Also podium 4,000m Black Shirt Finisher in 2022!]

NIKOLA CORBOVA - Overall Winner 2025 (4,000m Black Shirt Finisher)

KAMIL DUBA - 2026 (3,500m Black Shirt Finisher)

Two previous winners in Nepal makes this year's Janosik especially fun for us watching from the Himalayas.

All the best!

For those wishing to donate at this early stage following the tragic circumstances in Nepal, and considering what link to use, please look at this one.

Many thousands of people are now homeless. Teams are a working 24/7 to bring aid to those in need. Every effort is a help at this stage. Thank you.
-
While the enormity of the scale of destruction and loss is still being processed, it is still important for us as an athletic event to reassure athletes looking to plan for 2027.
HimalayanXtri and Himalayan SP5 are based in Pokhara, which is geographically 200km from the affected areas.
Though distant by location, we are all affected by what has happened, and it is vital we join together to help those in need and to help to rebuild.
We understand whatever we do at HimalayanXtri is a tiny drop, but we will be adjusting this year's Everest / Forbidden Kingdom Virtual Challenge that was due to launch on September 1st, accordingly, and will update how this will proceed in the coming days.
-
Thank you to all, athletes, the XTRI community and friends of Nepal, for your support.

In the stillness of the dawn, the Himalayan giants emerge, casting their long shadows over the water as your heart beats faster and the race begins.

That X-Factor
What does it feel like to make it to the highest point in world triathlon after battling a 3.8km swim, 165km road bike ride with more than 3,600metres of elevation gain, and then a trail run to 4,000metres above sea level?
-
Add in some spice and ask Heiko Sepp of Estonia, as he made it past the 3,500metre High Camp cut-off to become one of the first 12 to hit that high point ever in 2022.... and that was after losing nearly 2 hours to bike mechanicals on the road!
-
A truly outstanding achievement still talked about in Nepal...!

Some athletes have the X-Factor!
