River's Road to Everest

Namaste from Nepal! Good morning everyone. yesterday at 6 am River flew to Lukla, in the Everest region to begin her expedition. She arrived safely and then they were trekking to Tang for the night. I have not heard from her in 24 hours due to no signal. But wanted to update you all that she made it to Lukla. She said it was very cold! Hopefully I will hear from her tonight, and I will let everyone know. Thank you ❤️

Namaste everyone! This is Crystal, River’s mom. I will be updating this while River is on her expedition. To get you all caught up: we are living in Nepal to train on the high peaks. We left in December for a 3 month break during the climbing down season and traveled to Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Last week we returned to Kathmandu for River to head up again for another summit, and she left today. Here is some info on her climb and about the new Sherpa coach we have hired for her.

This morning here in Nepal River left Kathmandu for her second training peak in prep for Everest summit. We are honored for the time and attention of her new highly experienced personal coach here in Nepal and hopefully he will be the lucky one to take her to Everest summit if all goes well with training, as well as forming a strong friendship bond necessary for a one on one Sherpa and Everest climber relationship. This will be their first expedition together. Pasang Sherpa is a 9x Everest summitter. He is making special arrangements to work one on one with River, and we are so very thankful and honored for that. Today they headed off together to summit Mera Peak, 21,500 ft, to stand on the summit facing Everest. This will be her 2nd world record as youngest American female to summit a peak. This expedition will take them 2 weeks: 9 days up and 3-5 days down.

Please join me in wishing River and Pasang prayers and blessings for a safe journey and successful summit, clear weather, and forging a bond that will take them to the top of the world together. Water purification and blessing in Bali ❤️ I prayed for safety on my climbs and to always keep my family happy 🙏💦 this experience meant a lot to me for cleansing and I feel so thankful to have gotten to do it.

On my last summit my hair got caught in my ascender and almost pulled my head off!! So yesterday I chopped off 8 inches here in Malaysia in prep for my next climb! This was my master stylist Raymond!

Namaste everyone! Wow it’s been awhile since I have updated here I apologize for that! I have been in Thailand, Malaysia, USA, and Bali since December training hard and enjoying some family time and relaxation during my down season. My break is over and tomorrow I head back to Nepal for my next summit. Some of the most memorable times from the last few months away from Nepal have been: water blessing in Bali, meeting the Malaysian Everest multi- summitter, giving talks in Malaysia about my project, signing little kid autographs when they tell me I am their hero!, spending time with my little sister and mom laughing about everything, front row Ed Sheeran in Kuala Lumpur!, oceanfront condo in Thailand right next to a night market!, giving a talk in Montana USA, outdoor wilderness in Montana, waterfalls and rice fields in Bali, being on the cover of a European adventurer magazine!, Nepalese family visiting us in Malaysia, friends everywhere and new experiences everyday and always training in new exciting places as I stay on track with my goal during the winter months when summitting is impossible because of snow and temps. Here are some pics! Thanks for still being here and thank you for continuing to donate to help me reach my Everest goal! We received $200 more this week; which is going towards my next summit. Namaste everyone! Sorry, I've been so busy I haven't updated here. After missing a month of school for my climb I have been trying to make everything up. My semester is almost over! Also I have been doing alot of interviews. I will update here soon about leading our Everest Basecamp Expedition as soon as I finish classes.. it was so amazing and so many fun pics! In the meantime.. we have been working to help the earthquake victims and my mom has made a plan. Please help us to construct our shelter! Our team is leaving this Friday for Jajarkot, so that is the deadline for buying supplies. Please help in any amount if you can!
