Brendan Rodgers is confident Liverpool will add new faces to their squad in
early 2013 when the January transfer window opens. The Reds boss is hopeful of bolstering
the ranks, but refused to be drawn on
the names of any potential targets
when quizzed by journalists. Rodgers told a press conference at
Melwood: "Nothing will be complete
until we've signed a player and once we
do, I'll have no problem in speaking
about who we've signed. But until
anything is done on paper, there is nothing to say. "We'll always do our business privately
and in the way we want to do it. As
you've seen over the last number of
weeks, there are always going to be
things written about players, clubs and dealings. "We're confident we can get some business done early in January, which will really
help the squad. Until that happens, there is nothing really to add." Rodgers added: "We don't want to make many [signings] in January, but the one or
two we do I think can make a difference and help us. If we can do that, I think we'll
have a good second half to the season."

Liverpool will travel to Stoke City on Boxing Day with no fresh injury
concerns, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed. The Reds will have a fully fit squad to
choose from at the Britannia Stadium,
barring Fabio Borini who is continuing
his rehabilitation from a foot injury. Speaking at his pre-match press
conference at Melwood, Rodgers said:
"We're in quite good health. Everyone is
fine and working well, so we've got no
problems." Rodgers opted to hand Joe Allen and
Raheem Sterling a rest against Fulham
on Saturday, with the pair entering the
action in the 4-0 win as second-half
substitutes. The manager explained: "I felt it was the right time [to rest Allen]. He's also suffering
a little bit in and around his pelvis. "Add into that he has played twice the amount of games at this stage of the season
than he had last year. He's been playing in a lot of the games - sometimes up to three
games in a week. Physically, that has been a big demand on him.

Brad Jones insists he will not be intimidated
by the threat of Samuel Eto'o on Thursday
night because he is used to keeping world-
class talent like Luis Suarez and Steven
Gerrard at bay every day in training. The Australian is set to take up the
gloves for a second consecutive fixture
when the Reds welcome Russian
Premier League leaders Anzhi
Makhachkala to Anfield in the Europa
League. And while Jones knows he will have to
be on top form in order to foil the
talents of Anzhi's expensively-
assembled side, he is determined to
seize the opportunity in Pepe Reina's
absence. "Eto'o is a fantastic player and has been
for a number of years," he told
reporters gathered for a pre-Anzhi press
conference at Anfield. "He has played at the top and you know that you
are going to have to be on top of your game
against him. "But I have to do that every day [at Melwood]
with the likes of Suarez and Gerrard anyway. You
just need to make sure you concentrate and do
the right things. "For me it doesn't particularly bother me what
player I'm facing. It's the same idea when you go
out - you don't want to concede goals." Jones sees the clash against Anzhi as another
opportunity for players to impress the manager
and push for a place in his plans for the clash
against bitter rivals Everton at the weekend. However, the 30-year-old is keen not to lose sight
of the importance of getting a win in Thursday's
game before shifting the focus to Sunday. "We've got to concentrate on each game," he said.
"I know that's a big cliché but it's certainly the
way I see it.
