Subash finishes 12th at Telangana Open

KATHMANDU, August 28: Nepali professional golfer Subash Tamang finished 12th in the Telangana Open at the par-72 Vooty Golf County on Friday.

Subash carded an even-par 72 in the fourth and final round for 72-hole total score of 11-under 277. He dropped four places in the leaderboard after the fourth round.

He made a forgettable start with a bogey on the second hole and a double bogey on the third hole for 3-overf 39 on the front nine. He bounced back strongly on the back nine, firing birdies on the 12, 13th, 15th holes for 3-under 33. He began the Telangana Open campaign with a round of 2-over 74, but he bounce back with rounds of 7-under 65 and 6-under 66 in the second and third rounds respectively.

With the 12th place finish, Subash received a cash prize of INR 175,700. Another Nepali pro, Sukra Bahadur Rai crashed out early after missing the cut. Subash is a member of Nepal’s Asian Games golf squad. The DP World PGTI event carried a cash purse of INT 1 Crore.

India's Rashid Khan won the title with total score of 23-under 265. Rashid carded 5-under 67 in the final round to register 3-stroke victory over Honey Baisoya, who carded a 7-under 65 to finish second at 20-under 268. Veer Ahlawat (65) and overnight leader Angad Cheema (73) shared the third place at 19-under 269.

Subash cards 6-under 66, moves 12 places up to T8 after third round

KATHMANDU, August 27: Nepali professional golfer Subash Tamang continued his strong comeback at the Telangana Open, carding a bogey-free 6-under 66 in the third round of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) event at the par-72 Vooty Golf County in Telangana on Thursday.

Subash had opened the tournament with a 2-over 74 before bouncing back with a brilliant 7-under 65 in the second round. He followed it with another solid 6-under 66 on Thursday to finish the third round with a total score of 11-under 205.

With the third-round score, Subash climbed 12 places on the leaderboard to share eighth position with Indian golfers Manu Gandas and Dhruv Sheoran and Uganda’s Joshua Seale.

Starting the day strongly, Subash carded 4-under 32 on the front nine. He made birdies on the second, fourth, fifth and seventh holes.

After the turn, Subash added two more birdies on the 12th and 15th holes to card 2-under 34 on the back nine and complete a bogey-free round.

Subash is a member of Nepal’s Asian Games golf squad.

At the top, India’s Angad Cheema retained the lead with a total score of 20-under 196 after firing a 7-under 65 in the third round. Rashid Khan is second at 18-under 198 after also carding 7-under 65.

Jairaj Singh Sandhu moved into third place at 14-under 202 after shooting a brilliant 9-under 63 in the third round.

Nepal’s pro golfer Subash Tamang carded a 6-under 66 in the third round of the Telangana Open 2026 on Thursday to move to 11-under 205. Tamang opened with a 2-over 74 before firing back-to-back rounds of 65 and 66.

Subash cards a brilliant 7-under 65 under pressure, moves 44 places up after second round

KATHMANDU, August 26: Nepali professional golfers Subash Tamang bounced back with a brilliant 7-under 65 on the second day of the Telangana Open at the par-72 Vooty Golf County in Telangana on Wednesday.

Subash had played 2-over 74 in the first round but he came back strongly on Wednesday to climb 44 places up in the leaderboard. With 36-hole total score of 5-under 139, Subash moved up to share the 20th position. Subash is a member of Nepal's Asian Games golf squad.

Starting the day from the 10th tee, Subash carded 4-under 32 on his front nine. He carded five birdies on the 10th, 12th, 13th, 16th and 18th holes, and dropped a shot on the 11th hole. After the turn, Subash carded 3-under 33 with birdies on the first, fourth and fifth holes.

Another Nepali pro, Sukra Bahadur Rai missed the cut after he played 2-over 74 for 3-over 147. He had played 1-over 73 in the first round. Cut fell at 1-under 143 with top 50 players (T42) making it to the final two rounds.

The DP World PGTI event carries a cash purse of INR 1 Crore. A total of 132 golfers are taking part in the tournament.

At the top, India's Angad Cheema fired an 11-under 61 to move up to the lead with total score of 13-under 131. Rashid Khan is second at 133 after a round of 67, while Vishesh Sharma carded 4-under 68 and is third at 10-under 134.

Sukra finishes Telangana Open first round at 1-over 73

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 26: Nepali professional golfers Subash Tamang and Sukra Bahadur Rai are competing in the Telangana Open 2026, an event under DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).

The 72-hole tournament began on Tuesday at the Vooty Golf County in Telangana on Tuesday, but play was suspended midway through the first round because of rain.

Sukra, who was 1-under after 15 holes when the players were called off the course, finished his round this morning at 1-over 73. He carded a birdie on the 16th hole but facdd a double bogey and a bogey dropping three shots on the final two holes.

Subash had completed his first round at 2-over 74.

After the completion of the first round on Wednesday morning, the players are back on the course for second round.

The event carries a cash purse of INR 1 Crore. A total of 132 golfers are taking part in the tournament.

Sukra is playing his ninth event of the current season, and he has made cuts in two tournaments. Subash is currently at the 21st position in the Order of Merit, after eight cuts in 11 tournaments.
