πββοΈ THE 4 SWIMMING STROKES β Explained!
Swimming has four official competitive strokes, and each one has its own technique, rhythm, body position, and purpose.
π 1. Freestyle (Front Crawl)
The fastest and most commonly used stroke. It focuses on a streamlined body position, alternating arm pulls, flutter kicks, and controlled side breathing.
π 2. Backstroke
Swum on your back with alternating arm movements and a continuous flutter kick. It develops body control, balance, coordination, and strong kicking technique.
π 3. Breaststroke
Known for its unique βpull, breathe, kick, glideβ rhythm. The arms and legs work together, making timing and coordination especially important.
π 4. Butterfly
One of the most powerful and technically demanding strokes. Both arms move together while the body uses a continuous dolphin kick and wave-like movement.
Each stroke is different β but mastering all four builds better technique, strength, coordination, endurance, and overall water confidence.
At Divestroke, we focus on learning the right technique, building confidence, and understanding the water β one stroke at a time.
